Paddy was loved and adored by us, whether he gets the same accolade there, l don’t know, but it has to be earned first. He didn’t want to accept a year in league one and a chance to achieve his record and choose to stay in league two, good luck to him. Perhaps he knew who we are signing and believed his captaincy and game time with us would be limited. Personally I would have chosen to stay where l am happy, unless something has happened that we don’t know about.

He was offered a year by us and decided he'd rather have two years elsewhere, that's the long and short of it.

It's probably his last decent payday as a footballer. I've no idea who's offered what, but what he'll be able to make in the next couple of years will very likely have been a high priority for him. Gutted as I am to see him go, that's entirely understandable.

Sad to see but it shows it's not the lifestyle many think it is. Plus he is correct about his comments about people in the game that will include all levels of it. Some of our fans called him a w*nker and ran up To him when he crashed over the hoardings at the CE v Rochdale. He looked absolutely gutted. I even messaged him on Twitter apologising for the dickhead behaviour!

It really doesn’t. Some huge boots need filling now too.

It really doesn’t. Some huge boots need filling now too. Clarke Harris would fill the goals but I think we will find it very hard to get the whole package that madden had. Especially without paying half a million or more which I don't see us doing apart from Barry who will be double that.

Others as popular play against us after moving on and i never like it. Its either they do well against us or some right dickhead will see it as an excuse to boo him.

Just don't get the mentality of those who slag off ex-players simply for being ex-players. It's especially true for the likes of Madden and Danny Lloyd, as Durango mentioned, because in their own ways they did enough to be well liked by us and neither left under a cloud. But even just 'standard' players who come here, do their job and move on, don't deserve it. I reckon there are probably 2 or 3 ex-County players in my time watching us who probably deserved some grief when they came back, but I'd accept even that's subjective. For the most part it just makes us look a bit shit.

From what I remember of the Danny Lloyd incident, one bloke who was leaving early gave him the w*nker sign, but most of the CE sang the his old song as he jumped back onto the pitch - helped by the fact the jump over the hoardings was pretty much the only moment of skill/excitement in what was a very dour game, even by the less than stellar standards of last season in general.

Good on you for doing that, they could only be recent arrivals since we got out of the NLN and probably had no idea who he was, some people at the matches this past couple of years have really done my head in but if we're going to be succesful we're going to get them.

The only ex players who deserve anything derisory from our fans are the likes of McConville, who came here, stole a wage and took the piss. Someone like Danny Lloyd definitely shouldn’t be on the receiving end of any grief.

I wouldn't, he knows he'll not have the chance to earn money like this again in his life, he's moved every 3 or 4 years through his career and that's worked very well for him, I'd take the 2 year deal, and that's without the likelyhood that he'll play more in league 2
