Surely that's him deciding to move on rather than the club, given he was their player of the season? Perhaps has a move at the top end of NLN or even lower NL lined up?

Just don't get the mentality of those who slag off ex-players simply for being ex-players. It's especially true for the likes of Madden and Danny Lloyd, as Durango mentioned, because in their own ways they did enough to be well liked by us and neither left under a cloud. But even just 'standard' players who come here, do their job and move on, don't deserve it. I reckon there are probably 2 or 3 ex-County players in my time watching us who probably deserved some grief when they came back, but I'd accept even that's subjective. For the most part it just makes us look a bit shit. This 100%. The only ex players who deserve anything derisory from our fans are the likes of McConville, who came here, stole a wage and took the piss. Someone like Danny Lloyd definitely shouldn’t be on the receiving end of any grief. McConville was the only ex player i have given shit to in all my years of supporting us. Mind you in the past once players left us we never saw them again as in many cases we were their last league club. Unless a player leaves under a cloud or has slagged the club off they should at a minimum just leave em alone.

JK mentioned on one of the comms (think the Notts game when Sam was in attendance), that after the good season at Buxton he was looking at getting back to Full Time.

Glad to hear it; he had a bad experience at Halifax but I think most would agree that Sam could easily do a job at NL level; perhaps not at the very top end of it but definitely for a lot of the teams in that division

They seemed happy to sign him but he seemed to be dropped almost immediately?! Halifax fans saying at the time he had an attitude problem which is clearly bollocks.

Or it could be he wasn,t happy with how they played the game or what they actually wanted from him in games. Know of another who left them at the same time who gave one of the reasons for leaving was the non football he thought they played.

Always thought Alty would be a good fit for Sam.

Always thought Alty would be a good fit for Sam. Alty was my first thought too. Oldham have a taste for ex-County players though.

Be interesting to see if either would be interested after his nightmare season at Halifax.
Hopefully he’s rebuilt he reputation after bossing it back in the NLN.

Hippo linked with Hartlepool, apparently.
Thought he'd get a L2 move rather than drop down to National League again.
Guess it depends on money/contract length.
