Little surprised by that. Didn’t think he was that impressive for us when he played. He did make some great saves at EP when playing for Notts County though if I remember rightly. I rate Vit Jaros more than most on here, and disagree with your assessment of him. I have mentioned him two or three times since he left (with little response), and his career since would suggest he is one we might have pursued, especially as he fits the current recruitment strategy perfectly. if we were to sign him this summer for example. Would likely mean Ben is 2nd choice.

I follow them on twitter and had to look up when he played for us. 05/06 non contract basis. Yes. Made one start under Chris Turner if I recall correctly. I don't expect us to feature much, but he's a Stockport lad so still interested to hear what he has to say.

Always hate the idea of a new player being made the automatic first choice just because they are a new signing without staking their claim for the shirt.

I don't think anyone didn't rate him but Ben was the better option, Jaros will probably go on to have a better career but once Ben got his place back there was no shifting him.

Jim gave him his only start in his first game v Cheltenham, Dickinson came on to replace him. His five other appearances were all off the bench under Turner.

He could definitely feature in a barely memorable 11.

He could definitely feature in a barely memorable 11. I'm not really sure who I'd put in my forgotten/barely memorable XI. My main currency is obscure players so nobodies like Dean Crowe, Jordan Hadfield, Darryl Clarke, Yusuf Coban, Michael Hampson, Tom Eckersley etc are as recognisable, to me, as the likes of Alun, Flynn and Francis. There's probably a slightly less explored sweet spot where they've played 8-12 games. Not one-hit wonders, but those who just drift into obscurity. Aaron Cole, Kyle Brownhill, Lee Stevenson, James Hooper, Tom Aldred.

I think Hooper trumps him in the 16/17 obscureness stakes. He's obviously very well known more widely but Glenn Rule is a forgotten one from 16/17, he was with us as late as January 2017. He's much more widely associated with 15/16.

My initial reply was to CB1883 who stated that he ‘Didn’t think he [Jaros] was that impressive for us’; so that suggests that there is at least one who didn’t rate him (and he’s not alone). If you think that Jaros will probably have a better career than Ben, then why not here, and that’s why we should be looking at him.

Thought you'd misremembered Connor Hampson's first name there for a minute, but apparently someoned called Michael also played for us.
Also the 'know the name, forgotten he played for us' types
Danny Swailes, Martin Gritton, Paul Huntington

Leslie Thompson & Yoann Smith from around 2008 could sneak into an obscure 11 I reckon.

Marvellous Marvin Robinson and Joe Dolan.
Joe Dolan scored a header at the Cheadle End against someone like Bournemouth, I think.

Mo Cham, came on loan from Blackburn. Scored on his debut I think. No idea how many games he ended up playing for us, only a handful.

Why would he want to come back here when he’s been at Sturm Graz and playing European football? Me saying I didn’t think he was that impressive is hardly slagging him off. He was not a stand out keeper from what I saw. We’ve had far more memorable loan goalkeepers in the past.
