Player/assistant coach Sam Walker came of the bench to score the winner for King’s Lynn today. Cody played the full 90.

Forgive my pedantry, but it was at Hampden; renovation work at Ibrox this summer has seriously overrun and Rangers can't play there for the foreseeable future

Adam Hammill. Get him back. Geez. Maghull. I had to Google them. Lost 3-1 to Bury as I was also wondering why it was a decent ground.

What’s a slide rule pass? Is it not just a through ball? Not sure that needed another name. It’s basically just emphasising the accuracy and pace of the pass, it's been around for years. It certainly pre-dates pocket calculators for those of us old enough to remember them, so pre 1970's I'd guess. I always presumed it meant the pass was so accurate that anyone else would need to use a slide rule to calculate the precise angle and speed needed for the pass.

What’s a slide rule pass? Is it not just a through ball? Not sure that needed another name. I feel like slide rule pass could be as old as, if not older than, through pass. It's one of those phrases you don't hear as much these days. I started at Stockport college when we needed to use a slide rule because calculators were just becoming available but were incredibly expensive. I even had a circular one as well as the standard linear type. To me, a "slide rule pass" just means a precisely accurate one and I find it interesting that the phrase has outlasted the artifact it references by around fifty years.

Its a phrase i have never used but all fans would understand the concept without explanation even if they had never seen or used a slide rule themselves. There are possibly other phrases used from the past to describe something thats long gone from the game but is a good description of something.

I was absent mindedly looking back through old programmes last night and ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole to the point where I've spent today looking at where a lot of our ex-players of the last 15 years currently reside (if they're still playing, that is). Some are hard to find, and I imagine I've missed loads, but thought I'd try and give a recap on some of them (alphabetical by club):
Jayden Richardson is currently looking for a way out of Aberdeen having barely featured this season so far, including missing out against Kilmarnock, who had ex-United loanee Kieran O'Hara in goal.
Zeki Fryers is over in the third tier of Swedish football with AFC Eskilstuna. A regular this season as the club drift into mid-table obscurity.
James Ball, Joe Lewis, Myles Hippolyte & Ryan Johnson make up a fair percentage of AFC Wimbledon’s squad, all featuring in Saturday’s away win at Cheltenham.
Lewis Baines, Elliot Osborne, Ethan Ross, Matty Kosylo & Ollie Crankshaw are all down the road at Altrincham, with all bar Crankshaw featuring in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat at Forest Green.
The delightfully named Anstey Nomads have Conrad Logan between the sticks.
Dan Cowan, after meandering round several Northwest clubs, is now at Ashton United, helping them to a 2-1 win at FC United, who saw Adam Le Fondre start up front.
Rico Richards remains in Aston Villa’s Under 21 squad, with a loan move seemingly in the offing before the window shuts on Friday.
Craig Carney is a midfield mainstay at Avro FC in the Northern Premier League and came up against Mark Lees on Monday, who captained Mossley.
Chris Churchman, inexplicably still only 29, is at Bamber Bridge, an unused sub in their recent defeat to Guiseley, who had Adriano Moké and goal scorer Jameel Ible in their side.
Elliot Newby has three assists already for Barrow this season, featuring from the bench on Saturday, when his side beat Ryan Croasdale’s Port Vale 4-0.
Connor Dimaio captained Bradford Park Avenue to a 4-1 defeat at home to Liversedge.
Old friends Antoni Sarcevic and Neill Byrne aren’t ripping up any trees at Bradford so far, although the latter wasn’t booked in their last game, which was a nice change.
Louis Britton, he of the four-game loan spell in 2020/21, is at the dizzying heights of the Southern League Division One South with Bristol Manor Farm FC, following a spell with Maldon & Tiptree.
Ben Whitfield jumped ship from Barrow to join us in League One with Burton. He’s started well, with a goal and an assist thus far.
Lewis Earl is at Bury and featured in Monday’s win over Cheadle Town.
Buxton have a new fans favourite in Josh Popoola it seems, despite losing 2-1 to Marine. Loanee Ethan Mann missed out through injury, as did Zaine Francis-Angol. Adam Thomas came off the bench for Marine.
Will Fish, he of the unfairly chastised Simon Rusk influenced loan spell, has escaped the Scottish Premier League and joined Cardiff for £2 million.
Ben Barclay continues to marshal Carlisle’s defence through their new League Two campaign.
Neither Paddy nor Ashley featured for Chesterfield over the weekend, owing to both currently being injured.
Sam Bird was an unused substitute in Chorley’s emphatic 4-1 win over a Southport side containing Jordan Keane, Danny Lloyd and Jamie Proctor. Perhaps if Sam Minihan had been fit, they might have fared better.
Pantomime villain Sean McConville is now scrapping around at Clitheroe, a substitute in a dour 0-0 draw against a Wythenshawe Town team containing one Sam Sheridan.
The wonderfully titled Club Thorne Colliery, of the Northern Counties East Football League, are where Szymon Czubik currently calls his footballing home.
Both Bobby Jones and Marcus Poscha helped Curzon Ashton to a bank holiday clean sheet against Darlington.
Jacob Davenport is part of a Derry City squad that are currently top of the League of Ireland, whilst Andrew Wogan’s Drogheda sit second from bottom.
Scott Quigley has yet to score this season for Eastleigh, but they are still the early leaders of the National League.
Tyler Garratt (yeah, me neither) is in Gibraltar with the exotically named Europa Point FC. They sit bottom of the league after an opening day defeat to Glacis United F.C.
Millenic Alli is one that perhaps got away, although he’s yet to score this season for fellow League One side Exeter.
Darren Stephenson is a qualified physio and part of a Farsley side who got a last-gasp victory at Warrington Town over the weekend. Warrington have both Josh Amis and Bohan Dixon in their ranks, the former club captain (although currently injured).
Rhys Bennett, whose performance at Tranmere was car crash material, is off on loan again, back into League Two with Fleetwood.
Luca Ashby-Hammond, our most fleeting goalkeeper in recent times, is back at Fulham after last season’s Notts County loan. Yet to appear for the Cottagers’ first team.
Speedster Aaron Rowe, fresh from sullying his name with a loan spell at Crewe, made the permanent switch to Gillingham over the summer. Two sub appearances and two bookings so far for the winger.
Grimsby is the new home for Lewis Cass, who has settled well with an assist to his name after Saturday's 3-2 win over Cheltenham.
Germany’s (really?!) Festus Arthur has started the season warming Halifax’s bench.
Up in Scotland, Jordan Smith has swapped our bench for Hibernian’s.
Daniel Okwute, the fallen hope of our striking issues last season, is another with splinters, spending most of the summer warming Kerry’s bench in the Irish First Division.
Kings Lynn are home to a legend of the recent past and possibly our future, with Sam Walker as player/assistant manager and Cody Johnson impressive in all four starts.
Leicester U21s are the new home for Arjan Raikhy, holder of the current title of “Most memorable through ball of the Challinor reign”.
Fallen pretender to the GOAT’s throne, Vitezslav Jaros, was involved with Liverpool in pre-season after an impressive loan spell in Austria last season, although the impending arrival of another keeper on Merseyside suggests he is unlikely to see first team action any time soon and may well leave.
Perhaps the lowest ranked side providing an opportunity for ex-County men are Long Eaton United, where Lewis King is fending off strikers in The Pitching In Northern Premier League (Midlands).
Winners of the most ex-County players award are our near neighbours and Robbie Savage plaything Macclesfield town, who see Alex Curran, Courtney Duffus, Danny Whitehead and John Rooney ambling round Moss Rose. Rooney scored in Monday’s 1-1 draw with the mighty Hyde United.
Calum MacDonald appears out of favour at our next opponents, Mansfield, and is rumoured by home fans to be moving on before the window shuts.
Across the pond, Ethan Bristow, returned to Minnesota United after his loan spell in SK3, but doesn’t yet appear to have made it back into a matchday squad.
King of the slide rule pass, Connor Lemonheigh-Evans is settling in well at MK Dons.
Non-league hero Jamie Stott has finally made it into the football league, albeit with a Morecambe side that are a complete mess and who sit bottom of League Two.
Nic Bollado (again, who?) is banging the goals in for fun up in the Northeast with 2016 FA Vase winners Morpeth Town AFC.
Cult hero/questionable convicted criminal Courtney Meppen-Walter is back in Cheshire with Nantwich Town, leading their back line.
Bumbling striker Sefton Gonzales is still playing football for money, amazingly, with Nelson relying on him to fire them to promotion from the North West Counties First Division North after he inexplicably managed to score 22 goals for Clitheroe last season.
John Ruddy is the 47th choice keeper at Newcastle United.
Jason Oswell is still scoring goals in Wales, currently for Newtown.
Notts County are proud owners of Jack Hinchy, who joined this month after failing to break through at Brighton.
Winner of the “furthest from Edgeley” award goes to Connor Hampson, who I think is still at the wonderfully named Oakleigh Cannons in Australia.
Boundary Park is also turning into an adoption centre for ex-County folk as Alex Reid (despite his best efforts), Liam Hogan and Mark Kitching all call Oldham home.
Over in Cambridgeshire, Kaine Felix is with Peterborough. Peterborough Sports, that is.
Radcliffe, fresh from promotion to the National League North, have a trio of former players, with Lois Maynard, Scott Duxbury and Tom Walker all involved regularly.
The never-spotted Ben Knight is in far warmer climes, heading to Real Murcia during pre-season on a free transfer.
Harvey Gilmour (who I confess I do not remember) is trying to help Rochdale back into the football league, as is Devante Rodney.
Recent fan favourite Akil Wright and lesser-liked James Brown are in Dingwall, helping Ross County to an excellent 6-0 defeat to Rangers and an equally impressive 1-0 league cup loss to bottom tier Spartans.
PTSD alert! Old foes Rushall Olympic are where Liam McAlinden calls home.
Two of our finest non-league strikers are pairing up by the seaside in Scarborough, with Frank Mulhern and Richie Bennett attempting to help turn the Flamingo Land Stadium into a fortress.
Staying in the National League North, Ross Fitzsimons is with Scunthorpe as they continue their attempts to get back to the football league.
One league higher, Matty Warburton continues to plug away in front of 65 home fans at Solihull Moors every other week.
Our efforts to turn South Shields into a creche begin with both Ashton Mee and Jid Okeke heading northeast to assist with the Mariners’ efforts to remain in the National League.
Surprisingly Harry Cardwell is still at Southend, despite speculation each season he’ll move on. Fresh from 18 goals in the top tier of non-league football last season.
Stalybridge’s slide down the divisions is currently being assisted by Craig Hobson, Greg Wilkinson and Kyle Brownhill.
Our seemingly never-ending tussle with Carl Piergianni resumes this season when we play Stevenage.
Giving Lewis King a run for his money in terms of depths plumbed, Sanchez Payne, once considered to be Leeds’ brightest starlet, is now at West Yorkshire Division One side Swillington Saints.
Young whipper snapper Joel Cotterill is back on loan in League Two again, this time with Swindon.
Welsh powerhouses The New Saints (the artists formerly known as Total Network Solutions) provide Jordan Williams with a place to play, with the Welsh side just one game away from a place in the Europa Conference League group stages.
Gangly centre-back Jordan Fagbola is the heart of Trafford’s defence.
Both Connor Jennings and Kristan Dennis continue to feature for Tranmere, the former more so than the latter.
Following a break from the game and an apparent marriage, Jake Kirby-Reed (nee Kirby) is with Vauxhall Motors in the Northern Premier League Division One West.
Every local hipsters favourite club, West Didsbury and Chorlton, are where you’ll find both Cameron Darkwah and Jordan Lazenbury. If you want to feel particularly old, Darkwah is now 31…
One of two Roses I remember, Jordan Rose is captain at Winchester City FC of the Southern Premier League.
Alfie Pond, he of the pointless late defensive substitute appearances, is back in Wolves’ U21 side.
Andy Cannon and Sam Dalby both sold their souls and turn out for Wrexham.
York City is where you’ll find Billy Chadwick, another contender for most pointless purchase of recent years.
And finally, such legends as Wayne Hennessey, Todd (sorry, Toddy) Kane, Tommy Rowe and the mighty Kenan Dünnwald-Turan are all still actively seeking new clubs, if the internet is to be believed, following their release from Nottingham Forest, us, Doncaster and Arbroath respectively.
I'm going to try and keep track of these lot periodically over the course of the season, if anybody has any they want adding to the list let me know!

Nic bollardo was an emerging talent player/academy player. He was released by Carlisle and then joined us where we sent him to fc united where he seemed to score a few goals before moving to Scotland
Atleast i think im thinking of the right player as that was all off memory
