City sadly. A good mate Bernard, at Longdendale, was a huge fan. He and his dad took me to Ewood when City beat them 1-0 to win promotion. It was mental. I didn't actually like it. I would have been about 14 and it scared the shit out of me. Plus, I just couldn't see anything. Fortunately my ex-wife in later years had a good friend worked in the ticket office at County who gave me and my son free tickets and we were hooked immediately. Up until then though I was probably more favoured to City. Although by then I'd got into the drums and bands so football went on a backburner really between school and my late 30s. You went to Longdendale?

My family had no interest in football. My primary school friends mostly had united shirts on, so I wanted one aswell.
I remember going to the MEN Arena watching the United homecoming after they won the treble. We only got tickets through a family friend. I never went to a match though.
The County Soccer Schools did a few sessions at our school which my first experience of County. I got a few free tickets and went to a few home games under Gary Megson. My Mum lived on Edgeley as a kid and had heard of County, but never mentioned it to me!
I then somehow heard of the County Juniors and signed up for that. Then my Mum and Sister spent a few years on Brenda's coach doing the away matches too. They've both faded away, but my mum still goes to the odd game. She did Fylde away over the xmas period.
I've been hooked from 1999.

Longy alumn myself - got out 2003, never looked back! Ditto albeit later. But I did enjoy school generally speaking. I had a lot of good teachers.

I was born in a coalyard with 6 fingers on each hand, but never really enjoyed the football at Turf Moor. We were literally one big family there, though. The NHS OP to remove the extra fingers worked and stopped me smoking a cigarette and picking my nose at the same time with the same hand. After that,it was County for me. post of the year contender!

My first game, at least the first game I can remember, was on a piss wet through Friday night, we only went because the Speedway had been rained off...
Had the weather been better I would be a Belle Vue Aces fan

My two lads are Luke and Sean, the Mrs thinks She named Luke after Luke Goss his middle name was after my good mate Mark RIP. Sean went to Wednesday away at the age of 2 and Luke still in a trolley at Hereford away, they had no chance of supporting anyone else

Everyone's welcome, no problem with anyone changing teams as long as it's not the other way. actually i doubt many have turned their backs totally on us. many have stayed away but are coming back. we have newer fans replacing those who have died, ill or left the area. if we had been allowed to attend this season i do think the gates would have been higher than 2010/11 the last season in the league.

My family never really showed interest in footy growing up and at the time I was more bothered about playing basketball! I was bought a County kit when I was young (the 96/97 kit IIRC) for the soccer school camp things they did in the 90's but wasn't enough to interest me sadly.
I then ashamedly started to 'support' Chelsea when I did show interest in footy.
It's funny, it wasn't until I went to uni and met others that supported local teams like Cov, Blackpool (and even MK Dons) rather than Manure or Citeh that I started questioning my choice of team.
I remember bringing it up with my Grandad (my dad had long passed away by this point) about who he supported - he was a very working class man, who just hated football altogether due to the obscene amounts of money chucked about - but he said, if you could count it as support, it was County. He used to go down to EP with his father (Thomas) when little and even go and stand on the RE with his father-in-law (Herbert) to be when courting my Grandma! He also mentioned my dad would go to EP with his Grandad Herbert.
At this point I was severely conflicted as I now knew both my Great-Grandad's, Grandad and Dad, although the latter two didn't particularly like football, were County fans.
The final nail in the coffin that sealed it was actually going to the City vs Chelsea Community Shield match in 2012, I remember being surrounded by cockneys and hearing all sorts of abuse aimed towards our neighbours (and in many cases begrudgingly, Stopfordians) and finally realised I was wrong this whole time (even though I was obviously told this repeatedly growing up in school etc). It's daft as I've always been a proud Stopfordian and of where I'm from (big up Reddish!) and yet my football team wasn't County.
My brother also took up County with me too at the same time as previously being uninterested in football.
Been a County Season Ticket holder, and on a path of trying to enlighten plastics, ever since. I've seen some real lows and missed out on nearly all the highs in our history but we're on the cusp of seeing more of the latter now I believe!
Lastly, unlike my Dad and Grandad for me, I will actively force my children down the County route haha! It's already begun for my 10 month old daughter!
Animo Et Fide!
Edit: I think this just goes to show how important the school tickets initiative is, to try and snap up those kids that haven't really created any affiliations to a club yet before PL marketing snatches them up for their armchair subscriptions

My Dad is from Newcastle so was/is a Newcastle fan so he took me to a couple of games when they played away at Maine Road. This was under Keegan so it was an exciting team to watch on the tele but never actually travelled to St James’ to watch them.
My Dad is just a massive football fan in general so we ended up going to a few different teams when I was young just to watch live football. We have never lived in Stockport but being from mid-Cheshire we went to see the odd game at Crewe first and also Macc. Neither of us particularly enjoyed them and certainly didn’t feel any affinity for either team.
I played kids football at Egerton and we had the occasional coaching session done by County - Nigel Deeley mostly. Got a few free tickets around 1998/99 and have been hooked since. Not sure what it was but from the first match we went to I think we both felt an attachment and pretty much didn’t miss a game home or away throughout the next 10 years until I moved over this way.

If we're talking closest team when we became a fan then it's County for me - Cheadle Town, Cheadle Heath Nomads, Woodley Sports, West Didsbury and Chorlton, Stockport Georgians etc...all further away than EP. Not for quite a few divisions below that do you get to a closer team, and by then it's proper amateur grassroots with no real ground setup, fan facilities, fan culture, or fan base. Grew up in the High Peak, so by distance for me would have been: Tintwistle Villa (loooooool) Glossop North End Stalybridge Celtic Some Ashton team County I was born in Stepping Hill and lived in Heaton Moor to begin with - are there any clubs geographically closer to there than County? I grew up in hadfield so twintwistle villa would be my closest too. My dad and grandad were both liverpool season ticket holders at Anfield. The latter watched them even when they were in three second division. When county were under pressure of going under I would have watched Bradford, or been an active fan of Oldham. Went to school there and other than ep BP is the ground I've watched most football at.
