think pre floodlights the earliest KO i went to was actually 5.45 for a night match. with the traditional 7.30 KO with 10 minutes half time did finish by 9.15. now with all time added on and 15 minutes half tme you are lucky to get out by 9.45. always wondered if this is a reason why some leave young kids at home and going back to 7.30 may help some. doubt there is many who can only make it for 7.45 but not 7.15 or 7.30. on top of this an early finish may be of help to night workers attending.

Some clubs still play at 7:30 midweek, or did in the very recent past. When we played Darlo at Bishop Auckland in 2016 pretty sure that was a 7:30, and on a Wednesday (I think? - 57hattersyears will know for definite). Same with Chesterfield at Saltergate in 2004. Possibly some kind of licencing restriction?

Possibly some kind of licencing restriction? Went back to the programme cover for the match at Bishop Auckland. Say's it's 7.45, (but could it have been a late change after printing?), but definitely a Wednesday. A couple of the archive sites also have it as 7.45. As to the Chesterfield encounter - that programme is somewhere in the loft, so no idea. I can recall it is was a dismal wet evening and grim fare on view!!

Maybe I'm getting my 7:30s and Wednesdays mixed up then. Just found these highlights which while not telling us the kick off time, do show how just how dire we were. Hard to believe that was a team containing Ashley Williams, Warren Feeney, Rickie Lambert, Luke Beckett et al. I'm going to stick with my initial hunch it was 7:30 as I went straight out into Fallowfield after the game as I was a student at the time, and remember being back in the Orange Grove comfortably before last orders.
