Did anyone else in the early 1970's manage to get in for the last 20 minutes on a Friday night when they used to open the gates? My dad was a milkman in Offerton and on Friday night had to go round collecting the milk money of his customers as I was still at school I used to help him and then we would go down for the last 20 minutes when they used to open the gates at the railway end.

My Gran used to take me in for the last 15/20 minutes back in the1950s. Made me a County addict. There have been times when I say "why, oh why, have you burdened me with this,Granny?" But then I realise that she did the most marvellous thing she could have done for me. Thanks to her I am a winner of the jackpot in life's lottery, I am a County fan - the best thing to be in the world! (I can't recall what the second best thing is, but it's so far behind that it doesn't really count)

Loads of times as a kid in the late 60s early 70s when I didn't have the gate money, we'd usually be losing and there'd be half dozen going in while hundreds poured out, I remember one pissed up bloke leaving at half time and saying I could take his place, the bloke on the gate refused but after a massive row he relented and let me in, my memory is fading now but the steward could have been Lemon Head.
