What is the actual point of this guy? It’s really getting to me now and these latest signings have tipped me over the edge. A director of football is meant to have a clear recruitment policy in place and a range of plans for all circumstances. Yet everything we are currently doing smacks of panic buying.
33 full time players now, that is beyond a joke. There is no way these new lads are any better than Bell or Thomas.
The biggest insult of it all is we have a HUGE backroom staff and not one person is speaking about any of the signings when they happen. There may be sound logic behind all of this, so can someone just tell us why we’re doing what we’re doing and ideally how it all fits in with the long term plan? Wilson/Rusk/Jansen/MM/Conlon... anybody?

How about just plain old 'F*ck off, Wilson' Going to be pretty satisfying when were back in EP and can finally get a chant of that going. It’s going to feel like when Sale were still at EP. I really hope things have improved on the pitch by then but just imagine the collective release of anger in everyone’s voice chanting that. Wouldn’t surprise me if he dodges that game.

Fully expecting the usual tricks we've seen in the past. Fans being told because of our anger we've made it unsafe for Wilson/officials at the club to attend games, cowards pretending the police have advised them to avoid going to games etc. They won't give a f*ck what the fans feel until it starts making them uncomfortable.

Wilson/Rusk/Jansen/MM/Conlon... anybody? Same here. And what's even more annoying is that in a time when we can't go to the ground, communication from the club should be even more vital and a priority for the fans. We've not asked for season ticket money back as a show of support for the club, yet we hear virtually nothing of substance. What exactly are all these backroom lot doing? Someone must be overseeing all of this at the club.

Jim was just a mask, Wilson knew while he was our manager we as fans would be happy.
Now we're seeing the true colours of the new owners, no plan, no identity and no connection or care for the fans.
This will get worse imo.

Which makes it all weirder. Why would you set a train of events in motion knowing full well that you will be despised and so uncomfortable with the reaction from fans that you won't want to go to games. Doesn't make sense. Anyway surely both of them will be gone by then.

Or someone who, underneath it all, knows full well he has nothing to offer so takes a massive gamble to try a find some validation?

Could Simon Wilson step up to the plate and explain what exactly he is doing to earn his salary? And if he can’t, could he fk off somewhere else?

Is anyone here actually allowing for another opinion. Seems to me Simon Wilson has a specific job to do and you lot know nowt about it and are making up a load of bull about it. See how many join in with your songs, bunch of very weird people. It’s a valid point that we don’t know huge amounts of detail about his day-to-day role. But therein lies the problem. By not communicating, they allow a vacuum to be filled, and people will, rightly or wrongly, join the dots. What we do know is that he’s director of football, and that he is responsible for player contracts. So, for example, I look at the 33-man squad we now have and think: does that represent sound business? Value for money? I’ll leave that one with you. We also know that he is the boss of the First Team Manager. It is therefore a logical conclusion to make that he took the decision to dismiss Jim Gannon. Is that an unreasonable conclusion to make? I don’t think so. You’d certainly expect that to be the case. We also know of his role in the employment of the current manager. Again, people can make whatever assessment they want to at whatever stage on the merits or otherwise of that. And we know what he’s told us through his various interviews, some of which demonstrate a total lack of consistency between his words and actions. So again, it’s reasonable that people will draw their own conclusions. Now, of course, it may turn out that Wilson is a much maligned, misunderstood character in all this. Maybe he has had nothing to do with the catastrophe enveloping the club over the last two months. Maybe he really wanted to keep JG on and was overruled. Maybe his recruitment represents the best value for money ever seen at this level of football. The evidence suggests otherwise. He’s welcome to set the record straight. But then that poses another question: if he isn’t responsible for the terrible decisions we’ve seen of late, what the f*cking hell does he do to warrant his role existing?
