It could take up days in some cases. I’ve advertised jobs that have had over 200 applicants. A lot of those won’t even remember which jobs they’ve applied for when you speak to them either. An email with everyone BCC’d in would take days, that’s the simplest way to do it. I do a lot of recruitment into roles and I always insist we don’t leave people hanging.

Wasn’t that role in existence last season, has someone left or was Simon Wilson fulfilling that role last time round ? I would imagine Wilson would have been doing it. It’s the in game bit that’s interesting as didn’t see any evidence of iPads etc last season nor Wilson talking to the dug out during the match. So that bit all feels new and a positive IMO

Also we dont seem to have a player who can make space for themselves or others in the box. Most teams even the "poorer" sides seem able to do that. I reckon we do: Madden. The issue is more that he’s the kind of player you could build a team around who’s been shoe-horned into a rigid and one-dimensional structure that - let’s be honest - teams have been able to predict since quite early on last season. I’m still far from convinced that Madden wasn’t paid for out of the 2021/22 budget hence the lack of even the usual rumours about signings let alone official announcements. But as you say, the individual players aren’t lacking - it’s the managerial glue bringing them together that isn’t there. But that’s hardly surprising when you have management by committee… I’s be very surprised if any of our signings come from lower than League Two. We’ll have been waiting for contracts to expire or maybe some targets are holding out for potentially better offers. I wouldn’t be arsed in the slightest if Madden’s transfer fee came out of the 2021/22 budget.. His signing could have got us up last season and even though it didn’t pan out that way he’s a few months further ahead than he would be had we signed him now.

Having spoken to people at the club, Rusk gets on with it, has the final say but is very open about asking for Conlon’s and McGhee advice and input, I can’t see anything wrong with that. I’ve seen no evidence of Wilson intervening on how the team play.

Other than the fact we continued to play the same predictable and one-dimensional tippy-tippy football when Rusk took over as we had been under Gannon had been since the takeover, you mean?

There was a spell under Jim when we were hoofing it, in an interview Jim said he didn’t want them to do that and that we should retain possession. I don’t think what you say supports your management by committee point. When I see people connected to the club, I ask questions because I’m interested, I want to know how it operates, unless they are lying to me, I can categorically state the team is not managed by committee. For what it’s worth, the players love the sessions with Rusk and he gets very involved, the players like that. Rusk will stand or fall on next season. Some are saying if we aren’t Champions then Rusk must go, I’m not sure that’s fair or the type of club we want but I’d agree, progress has to be demonstrated.

I don’t doubt the players enjoy training with Rusk - he’s an experienced and highly qualified coach, after all. I don’t agree that Wilson not being stood on the touch line with Rusk, McGhee and Conlon doesn’t mean he isn’t doing all the strategic stuff though, setting the tactics that are to be worked on, deciding the specs for transfer targets, etc. I don’t disagree that that’s what a DOF is there to do either, but it’s also why I get a sense of same shit different day with the football. I guess my point is that I’m not sure replacing Rusk will make much of a difference if we aren’t successful in getting promoted this season; replacing Gannon didn’t, after all. We were almost - but not quite - good enough before he came along, and we were almost - but not quite - good enough afterwards.

I understand that, and surprise surprise, I share some of those views, we don’t yet know what Rusk can do as a manager with a full pre season. What can’t be disputed is, so far, harmony within the group of players and management team, there is definitely a feeling of everyone pulling together which can only be a good thing. Whether that translates into promotion, we will find out. For me, Rusk needs to solve the home form, that has to be his priority.

I am not clear why management matters are in this thread.
However, it is and so I will write that the issue that needs resolving, either by Rusk or someone else, is for those players who have already been signed (to score goals?) should have their training taken in hand by someone who knows how to improve their scoring rate.

Only Sutton scored more goals than us, I think it’s more about winning at home and beating teams at the top, more goals of course are always welcome and our profligacy cost us in the playoffs.

Wasn’t Mark McGhee a striker with a good goalscoring record?

Interesting past- been sacked!
He's not camera shy ! In May 2015, Smith and teammates James Pearson and Tom Hopper made a sex tape with local women on Leicester's tour of Thailand, which was obtained by the Sunday Mirror. The three players apologised for making the video, which included a racial epithet towards the women.[22] However, the trio were sacked by the club on 17 June 2015.[23]
Cost Nigel Pearson his job as manager too.

I wasn't rusk is probably still on holiday. Let him enjoy his rest and he'll make signings as soon as he's back. It doesn't mean the deals aren't done. Let’s be honest: Rusk went on holiday at the end of May. Can’t see any other reason for such an underwhelming performance in our biggest game in years. How much time off does he need? Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
