Some rumours from Vale fans we’ve been looking at Tom Pope after his contract expired. Great signing, if this is true. He netted three times in 23 appearances during an injury-hit 2020-21 season as Darrell Clarke's side finished 13th Sorry not for me

Linked with Scunthorpe aswell....36 next month, not sure our style of play will suit a 6'3" target man

We’ve got a few oldies, think we need a number 9 in his mid twenties.

Some rumours from Vale fans we’ve been looking at Tom Pope after his contract expired. That would be a terrible signing.

I don’t want him like.
We need a big number 9 that actually scores lots of goals.

Uh oh, a Jim Gannon signing from Rotherham. One of his first for Port Vale signing him initially on loan.

It’s the norm these days and it’s infuriating. I was runner up for a position at the end of last year and the hiring manager told me to keep an eye on the website for any other opportunities with the company I might be interested in. Eventually found one and applied, spending several hours crafting a new application and referencing what the hiring manager had said. It was a slightly less senior position too but given my lack of experience cost me the other role I thought, why not? Didn’t even get the curtesy of a rejection. Compare that with one of the theatres I freelance at. They had 230 applicants for a single administrator position. At a time when they’re hiring for at least 5 full time positions. The executive director took the time to write a personal message to every single applicant. Made me proud when I heard about that as I already loved working at the place.

Someone with a bit of pace Totally agree - we need a Dicko (first spell) type forward, someone who can hold up the ball when needed but also has enough pace to run the channels and go the other way as well. Pope might do well at this level but he’s not the right fit in any formation alongside Madden.

Other than the fact we continued to play the same predictable and one-dimensional tippy-tippy football when Rusk took over as we had been under Gannon had been since the takeover, you mean? yes. actually you would never really know we had changed our manager even after rusk brought a few players in. its just we give jim a bit more leeway than rusk. its the situation of teams coming to EP with a squad assembled from free NL transfers and players from much lower down the pyramid who can easily go home with a point. its not just teams above us where we struggle against at home. ok, these sides are not going to get promoted but we didn,t either. we have said in the past that our training facilities, ground, changing rooms etc. etc. should help in recruitment of players. if thats the case then surely we do not to have to pay out stupid transfer fees just to be better than say bromley to gain promotion. apart from madden i,m sure we could have signed as good as any we have splashed big cash on.

Wouldnt be to enamoured with Pope at all, 36 years old is very much stop gap and I'd like to see the demographic of the squad change a little bit with some players with more potential resale value
Pope is also one of those jack the lad types who done podcasts and been scathing on Jim thinking hes a bantasaurus rex
I'd steer well clear personally
