But Alty finished 4th, so seems fairer to give them the advantage

Solihull, no? Alty play Halifax. The first statement said Solihull but they realised they messed up.

Wonderful chance for Alty to get to the playoff final now. They deserve a FL place

What an absolute farce. Looks like someone at the NL working on a Sunday has approved a press release without bothering to check their own rules!
I imaging there are a fair few disgruntled people in Solihull who, for a short time, thought they had a bye. Still, good news for Alty in the end.

Wonderful chance for Alty to get to the playoff final now. They deserve a FL place Not sure they do; I’ve criticised the string of essentially non-league London borough teams in the NL and EFL 2 with very poor home support because everyone actually supports bigger team nearby (applies further afield too as in the case of Stevenage), and the thought of Bromley or Barnet replacing Sutton (and Forest Green) adds nothing to the EFL. Got to say that Alty as a traditional non-league team fall into the same category, just Greater Manchester instead of Greater London; that said, I’d prefer them to Bromley or Barnet in the EFL. Outside Chesterfield, now the log-jam pressure of big ex-EFL teams that aren’t basket-cases has eased, I think whoever comes through the NL play-offs will struggle, the standard really does seem well short to me. (Elliot Osborne a regular, and Alty fans on their forum think Ethan Ross could be player of the year). The calls for three-up, three-down have suddenly gone away, for good reason.

The NL is a different animal this season to when County, Wrexham, Notts and Chesterfield were trying for promotion. Next season it will be another with traditional non league outfits will be playing smaller ex league clubs who have seen better times. A few years ago i remember Darlo not being allowed to compete in the PO because of their ground in the NLN. Surely a team who cannot compete at an end of season PO or refused promotion to a higher division should not be allowed to play in that league anyway until they got their house in order. As for Alty becoming a league club why not. Do not think there is much between them and Macc as clubs when they gained their first league promotion especially the grounds.

Also the two clubs coming down this season are traditional non-league outfits, Forest Green and Sutton, leaving next season looking more traditional NL than it has for several years.
