How many times in the last 20 seasons have we been happy with how the season ended?
Let's face it.... it's usually shite.

How many times in the last 20 seasons have we been happy with how the season ended? Let's face it.... it's usually shite. In roughly 50 seasons I’ve seen one title won (in regional non league football) 1 play off promotion and 2 automatic promotions. That leaves 46 seasons with some glorious moments but generally, as you eloquently put it, shite endings. I wonder if, rightly or wrongly, that’s why I’m less inclined to want to sack the manager at the first sign of trouble.

Know where your coming from.. highlights are Chesterfield, Nuneaton, Wembley, home v Southend( or whoever it was..know it was against a team beginning with S ) Plenty of fantastic memories inbetween both in league games and Cup too, but overall, it's usually a shite ending to a season.

There's some truth in that, but generally we are entertained along the way; that's not currently the case. And often there's not the expectation of doing well, but with this squad, quite rightly, the opposite is true.

This is where the “if you don’t back the Simons you must want County to have players like Chris Churchman” argument falls on its backside for me. Just because we now have individual players who cost more than the entire playing budget back then doesn’t mean they’re playing or being managed any better. Embarrassingly bad football one division higher than we were in those days is still embarrassingly bad football.

Stott's January 2020 interview on his takeover: "I've been talking to Richard [Park] for nearly a couple of years." Wilson's March 2020 interview: "I was introduced to Mark Stott about 7 or 8 months ago." You forgot Stott’s August 2021 fans’ forum: “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Simon.” Therefore its a case of believing what you want to believe or nothing at all. The august 2021 statement could have been seen as a backing for wilson to attempt to get everyone onside.

Not having one type does not mean you have to have the other. Its all about recruitment at our level and not trying to break the bank. Big money signings have no more of a chance in coming off as a properly watched player out of contract at his old club we have never heard of is.

I could swear from where I was standing big Kev headed it down into the net from over the bar he had jumped that high. Similarly very very drunk at the time.

Of all the managers we have sacked and that includes danny how many have actually proved the club wrong by sacking them. Take JG out of it and the answer is a big zero. The recruitment of them was worse than their sackings.

The recruitment of them was worse than their sackings. Correct Timber, only Ray Mathias who was wrongly dismissed in my opinion (Bar JG obviously), in my County watching lifetime: Gary Megson - Went on to do very well with WBA and to a lesser extent Bolton - From memory he was touting himself about for other jobs so it was a none footballing decision Andy Kilner - Never managed a side again to my knowledge Carlton Palmer - Went to Mansfield and then never managed again except recently to a tiny non-league side Sammy Mac - Went to Morecambe after County and achieved good success, but never managed at a higher level to when he left us Chris Turner - One club since leaving County (Hartlepool) - Only just kept them up at League 2 level Gary Ablett - Not fair to comment on this for obvious reasons Paul Simpson - Briefly managed Northwich - not managed other than that Peter Ward - Again unfair due to his status at the club but was never really cut out for management and has never managed a side again Ray Mathias - Probably the only one that we were wrong to sack - would have done a good job at steadying the ship and possibly getting us to bounce straight back from non-league Didi Hamann - Never managed again Darije Kalezic - Never managed again in the UK. Never stayed at a club as manager for more than 2 years since Ian Bogie - Never managed again - in coaching now Alan Lord - Great job at steadying the ship and a total legend - never managed again, because he focused on scouting and youth development Neil Young - Total disaster, has managed again - failed at Alty and now at Marine - hardly a glowing CV

The august 2021 statement could have been seen as a backing for wilson to attempt to get everyone onside. Which worked absolutely brilliantly for just under three days, until D&R’s second went in and the cracks started to appear again. Ho hum…

As a glory seeker the Scunny game was my first County match, I’ve still got a ball I nicked when one of the players knocked it into the Cheadle End at the end of the warm up, no idea how I managed to hold onto it at the end of the match when I was on the pitch from all the people who thought it was the match ball. Presumably someone somewhere has the actual match ball
