Ben is a must keep for me. Even if just adding a year, and bringing in someone to develop behind him. Hopefully he gets to take part in another County promotion, he has earned that. While I am not a fan of punching the ball instead of catching it, and his kicks still leave something to be desired, he is normally a rock, providing stability and confidence at the back.
I don't know if he is interested in coaching after his playing days are through, but if so, a club would be lucky to have him. Legend. Sign him back up. Looks like our contract situation is amazingly strong for next season. Cheers, Jeff

I'd say him kicking is fantastic these days too; worlds better than it was. There's rarely a misplaced one these days.

Wonder if the change in keeper coach has changed Bens mind pay, he certainly seems to have improved in his kicking and also seems to punch a lot more (occasionally when he could maybe catch the ball).

Could have done with him doing it for the first goal on Tuesday. It was very similar to the goal we conceded against Tranmere at EP.

Any idea of what the situation with Ben Barclay is? Two seasons in a row he's been loaned out and the teams he has played for have held him in decent regard, and played in league 1 with Accrington. You'd think he'd at least be good enough to play some sort of role next season...? Makes you wonder whether something is up behind the scenes. Would like to think we'll keep Byrne and Ben on for next season, whatever division we're in. barclay will be gone in summer, not on ability just not in favour. He had a tough time when he did play because he was played on the left of a back 3 and he's right footed

Probably that and going full time too; must be so relieving to be able to focus fully on football and not have to worry about another job, particularly one like he had.

Hussey got another assist today but unfortunately he's too old and we need to be reducing the age profile of our squad. The fact that the one and only player who is in the running for Young Player of the Season is 22 says it all.

I think we'll sign another LCB but I can't see us going in with the new LCB and Ethan Pye as our only options there, assuming Pye doesn't go out on loan again.

It was only a few games ago both were fit and he chose Byrne.

Would be shocked never mind suprised even if we stay in div.2 next season that anyone of those out of contract will be offered another with the exception of ben and possibly byrne.

I’d keep Byrne as backup any day (assuming we don’t go up).
The club will have a huge amount of business to do so why waste resources replacing a CB who’s proved he’s more than good enough.

Probably a new one-year deal for Hussey, but sign a younger and more dynamic starter. Not sure we keep both him and Byrne, but both have done a decent job. Release Johnson, Davenport, Bardsley, with special thanks to the former for his efforts. I suspect the club will wait until autumn and see how it’s going before offering Challinor a new deal. But unless things are going badly we absolutely should. Either give Barclay away for free or pay him off. As above for Quigley. There’s a conversation to be had about whether Ross is up to the job as number 2 or not. Unsure whether Crankshaw is up to it and think we probably need better. We are not a million miles away from a conversation about Madden’s future. One more season for sure. Not sure beyond that. Get Croasdale signed up to a longer deal immediately. The rest are on long enough deals not to worry about yet.

Paddy's already said he wants to finish his career in Ireland, & i think Byrne has done enough to extend his stay, as for Ross, he's not figured for York since the end of February
