Feel so sorry for Mellon, was an innocuous challenge. To be ruled out for a season that’s yet to even start must be mentally tough. Hope he makes a swift and full recovery. I assume we’ll be sending him back with immediate effect.

agree, we've won 3 titles in 6 seasons. we've finished higher up the football pyramid for 10 consecutive seasons. we've got promoted to League 1 and mixing it with well established FL teams, unlike FGR, Salford + around hundred non league teams. we've sold a record number of Season Tickets. we've seen fantastic improvements at EP in recent years, with even better to come. we've seen over 10 new signings, which all appear to be an improvement on what we had. we've sold over 3k tickets for our 1st away game of the season(prob more than our average attendance 10 years ago) we've stood by County through the dark times, and now we're being rewarded with these fantastic times....bring on August 10th!! “we've finished higher up the football pyramid for 10 consecutive seasons” Honestly it’s one of my favourite things about us atm and I want us to keep it going as long as humanly possible. I wonder what the record is in the English pyramid. The southern Hatters are the obvious ones to check, but since they won the NL in 2013/14, Luton have had one blip (not counting last season/this season which re-sets the clock. In Luton’s five seasons in the NL they finished 2nd 3rd 5th 7th then 1st (P). In League 2 they finished 8th 11th (the one blip), but then began the season-on-season improvement in 2016/17 finishing 4th then 2nd (P). In League 1 they finished 1st (P). In the Championship they finished 19th 12th 6th then 3rd (P). In the PL 2023/24 they finished 18th and were relegated thus ending the sequence. That makes 8 consecutive improvements from 2015/16 (would have been eleven but for the one drop from 8th to 11th in 2015/16 whilst in League 2. Others will probably be able to beat that.

Nah let’s get another crock or a player who’s best offer was Salford instead. the thing is, they are all different type of midfielders Rossiter - dm Norwood - cm Woodman - am Norwood is a defensive midfielder.

Norwood would be great if he’s willing to join. So much experience to help pass onto the younger players.
Gayle I’d take as well but if the news about Mellon is true, I do think we’d be looking at a younger striker who offers similar to Mellon in terms of his ability to get in behind.

Letting Madden go (or not agreeing a deal - whatever) looks increasingly short-sighted now we’re giving Gayle minutes.

Totally agree. If his age was an issue, he could have done 60 mins and/or come on as an impact sub.

I claim the first sighting of the lesser known “letting Madden go was a mistake” for the season and claim my prize. Often to be found after a defeat or an injury, or when we consider an older player on a short term contract.

Not offering two years Madden was right tbh but if talking in hindsight Paddy has a bad injury anyway and would be no good to us at the moment On others Gayle showed some good touches with little service thought he showed up more than Norwood who got caught on ball too much and not sure he suits us, didn't impress me last night at all though obv has very good pedigree but we need legs in there not a 33yr old IMO Tanto back in training, Wootton and Barry fit is enough start season and assess as go on see if option comes up before end of August maybe pull a favour in from City and get someone on loan Not sure we can just rip deal up with Mellon if he has done ACL it would require Burnley to be on board in recalling him let's hope have decency to so can replace but it's tough on the lad and big blow for us as bits I've seen he looked very capable

Excellent stuff. It’s great to have him back on so many levels, but he also plugs such a tough gap to fill in the squad and complements our other signings so well. Can’t have ever been this exciting to be a county fan before? It was pretty exciting under Danny. True but do not say it. Took us over 25 years to get back to that stage of excitement with a bit of JG to keep us going.

I wouldn’t judge him off a friendly against Blackburn which was potential his first game in three months.
