Maybe he isn't interested in leaving and wants to be part of the squad? If he's being difficult about moving on, it doesn't have to be financially-motivated. This is more likely imo. He’s on a good wage and he’s had a season where he’s been heavily involved. He seems settled and motivated imo. Why would he want to leave? He’s not just going to go because he’s suddenly not wanted by the management, nor should he, he’s got a 3 year deal. Agree with all this. And why would we want him to leave? He definitely became more influential as the season progressed.

Is the injury definitely his ACL. Has it been confirmed by a specialist yet? Devastating news for him and us! Not sure, I'd heard from someone else 6-8 weeks which would lead to medial ligament injury but word from Burnley end is ACL so no idea all in all, we will find out soon enough at fans forum I'd imagine Really hoping for good news on this one. Was expecting big things from Mellon, think he’d be excellent for us.

That’s right around the beginning of September after the transfer window has closed. We are allowed 22 players and have 18 that require registration at the moment. Players requiring to be registered 18 Knoyle Touray Horsfall Southam-Hales Powell Rydel Collar Camps Wootton Olaofe Stretton Bailey Bate Mingi Diamond Connolly Hughes Fiorini Unless a club signs players who are not included in that number there is little leeway when a match day squad consists of 18 players. Its indirectly telling a club how a reasonably sized squad should be made up of. 16 outfielders typically. So essentially you have room for 6 unused outfield players over 21, and as many goalkeepers and youngsters as you want.

The thing that i don't understand regarding him leaving is why is it taking so long. I don't take powell as the type of player to make this a difficult process regarding the financial side of it. If hes fit and leaving then hed want it done sooner rather than later so he could have found a new club and gotten abit of pre season under his belt. "the type of player to make this a difficult process regarding the financial side of it" If that is it then I don't hold it against him in the slightest. We gave him a lucrative contract and he has every right to see it out.

Have I missed something? Are we actively looking to sell Powell or has he missed pre-season due to an injury or what?

I said this last week and got accused of being a nasty piss can.
It’s our own fault. The deal we gave him was ridiculous.

MCL would be best case scenario at this point, so hugely welcome! reliable, but whether that was an initial expected prognosis prior to scan and then it's ended worse than expected I don't know

Totally agree with the last bit, although it's also just my opinion, but he looks like a good footballer who just isn't that interested or a fan of the game bit like Ben White allegedly. There are probably a fair few footballers who see it as 'just a well paid job, and milk it while i can' - I'm not saying Powell or White have this view, but wouldn't be suprised if many do... especially later on in their career. On the other side of the coin, there are many that just love the game and want to play forever, at any level, regardless of the wage. Correct and feel its the style of powells play that give fans this observation that he has only interest in money rather than the game. Anyone remembers Billy Kee the ex burton and accrington striker. he publically declared his disinterent in football but played as if he loved the game on a matchday. At the end of the day it is a job and like many of us might not like it but work to our best ability and are as succesful as someone who loves their daily grind. Sometimes the wrong people get the chance and like the majority of us we were not good enough to get it in the game. We always need to remember that the vast majority of the town have no interest in its football club so you cannot expect every player to love the game as we do.
