Valuable lessons to be learned here about validating sources. What kind of rumours thread would that be? A quality one and not one with nonsense like Ian Lancashire to FC United! That was never going to happen …. His wage demands were too high!🤣🥳

With challinor wanting a 343 seemingly close to happening with msh back and mingi too soon If that was the aim from the start of the season then we dont have enough cbs. Especially as i don't trust connolly. So pye, horsfall and mingi start and only back up is hughes. I also dont understand the midfield. Bate, camps and collar in a 2 is okay at a push but none of our other midfielders are mobile enough to play in a 2 or good enough. Id rather we stayed 4231 but get the ball between the lines quick and then release the wide players in behind. Id like to see Keeper Msh,horsfall, pye, touray Bate, mingi Fevrier, collar, barry Tanto I'm not sure how many more spots we have left to sign in January but id be looking to add some physical presence in midfield and some depth at cb for someone who can play in a 2 and a 3. Yes we have mingi who is that type of player but we will miss his physical presence if he gets injured again and Connolly i guess similar just not got the abilty from what ive seen so far. Would going for someone like Brendan Wiredu be worth it. Would be our most expensive signing but i think he was Fleetwood player of the year and has plenty of clubs looking at him. He can play rcb and in midfield. Mainly at rcb this season but that would allow mingi to step into midfield and still provid cover at the back if needed or vice versa. Hes 6'3ft so i think same height as mingi just less injury prone, although he has come off twice this season due to injury. One after 13 mins but he then played 90 miniutes 4 days later and played 3 more 90 miniutes before getting injured again but he seems to complete alot of 90 miniutes even after injury from what i can see. 21/22 season - 45 games, 35 league starts 22/23 season - 47 games, 31 league starts 23/24 season - 39 games, 36 league starts 24/25 season - 16 games, 13 league starts Again would be an expensive signing but someone who is available should we sign him and has the experience of league 1 and turned 25 today so a good age to grow still. Great post, think every word is spot on to be honest. (With the mild caveat that I’m not writing Connolly off completely yet and wonder if he might do a better job for us at defensive midfield).

Bit of detail for thise without Instagram? knoyle posted pics of him training with one of those sand timers GIFS Players normally do a post like that when they aren't far off a come back Could you have not put that in the initial post? Especially given Knoyle's account is private so someone has to not only be on Instagram but also follow him.

I agree that DC was keen preseason on 3-4-3 but I wonder if he's changed his mind, especially after yesterday. I'm biased because I've never seen us play 3-4-3 well, but to me it leaves us far too open / easily overrun down the centre - especially as we don't have lots of "legs" in midfield. Collar is mobile but you just don't get a performance like yesterday in 2, he needs a licence to go forward. With our wingers lacking end product so far, and able to be attacking wingbacks (or even a second striker for Fevrier), I wonder if DC will prefer 3-4-1-2 which has served in so well. 4-2-3-1 also works for us well, in fact we seem to switch between the two in and out of possession when we have the likes of Mingi at RB. Get a few back (and not lose a few at the same time....) and the squad shapes up well: Ben/Addai Mingi (Connolly/Onyango) - Horsfall (Hughes) - Pye (Touray/Connolly) MSH (Knoyle/Diamond/Fev) - Bate and Camps (Powell/Norwood/Collar/Bailey) - Rydel (Touray/Adaramola/Diamond/Fev) Collar (Fiorini/Powell/Bailey) Wootton and Barry (Tanto/Mellon/Fevrier/Stretton)

There was such a difference yesterday in the protection in front of our backline with him and Norwood there rather than just Bate then Fiorini and Collar both playing high. It also helps our build up and gives Collar licence to make those runs around Wootton. Barry can still press (as he did for his goal yesterday) and track back but I agree he'll probably benefit from not having a stricter responsibility to track a fullback all game.
