United accounts linked him before the window opened O’Rourke linked him with us in January too but went to Cheltenham. ahh i remember that Im really not sure hes someone we need. Maybe a player there but its a position that is already stacked especially if we are to play lowe and Wootton together like challinor said (really worry for our pace when we do) But unless we are offloading both fiorini and Bailey for him to be a squad player then hes not getting in over mothersille, diamond, Fevrier and then camps too. Maybe a nice signing to have but dixion (any rb/rwb) and a cm need to be bigger priorities imo. Especially as hed be coming in on loan to a team that already has 4 loans i think with dixon

Especially as hed be coming in on loan to a team that already has 4 loans i think with dixon Defo room for another attack minded midfielder IMO if you've got Diamond, Fevrier but he had few injury struggles as ball carrying winger/no 10 types there is a noticeable drop off then when they go off, we have Mothersille too but remains to be seen on what position we settle on with him so Williams would make sense always good to have a additional option like that to come off bench You can then have Fevs and Diamond wreak havoc for 60 mins and bring someone else on without a drop off in intensity We looked a bit labored at Wycombe not having someone at top end of pitch that gave them something to think about on the counter and we had to grit it out with little threat to them or control so we do need that option This would also suggest Onyango now won't come in as Williams plus Dixon be 5 loans and not really good practice to go over that and have someone sitting out the 18 Ideally we need another number 8 midfielder with slightly different profile but unless we want to try for a perm signing may not be scope unless can find a taker for a fiorini or Bailey

We are overstocked at CB and our wing backs aren’t good enough defensively to play in a back four. We won’t be playing with wingers very often and when we occasionally do we have Diamond and Mothersille who both prefer the left. An attacking left sided player is the last thing we need. United really like him so we take him on loan and he sits in the stands like the last two from there then they’d quite rightly give us a wide berth. Concentrate on a CM who can fill in for Bate.

United really like him so we take him on loan and he sits in the stands like the last two from there then they’d quite rightly give us a wide berth. Concentrate on a CM who can fill in for Bate. we play with wingbacks but quite often our no 10s will find themselves in wide areas certainly in transitional phases and see Diamond against Wycombe often isolating himself 1 v 1 at either full backs or side centre halves he's done them down the sides twice for the goals, so those positions are often hybrid positions where we look for 10s that can split into wide areas with capacity to beat a man, at the min we have Camps there he's doing ok but a little like Collar wouldnt say its wholly natural to him and that could free him up to play deeper and replace Bate Sometimes we look a 3421 sometimes a 3412 and sometimes a 343 if its the latter the side positions of the top 3 you want people that can finish and deliver a ball for you, most of our options are decent off both feet too Fevs is pretty much 2 footed and Diamond good with his left setting 1st up at Wycombe and having shot from distance just wide against Crewe as cases in point, Williams seems to be in same mould and would give us more options than a Bailey in that respect so i think there is scope for it, out of possession we often defend as a 4 with Olowu last week shifting over tov right back to defend Onyedinma and dodgson slotting into the 4 then if we turnover possesion generally will look for one of midfilders in Norwood or Moxon to go through and pick out players and counter often in 4231

I find myself agreeing with slomass’ point that we need pace at the top end of the pitch but wnm’s that winger types rarely get a kick as we tend to play one behind a two. That’s why I think we need to add a pacy young striker.

And, perhaps more importantly, our pressing shape looked unconvincing against Bolton when we had Mothersille and Diamond behind Woots. Both kept getting caught in a no man’s land, unsure whether to press wide or centrally. Even with Camps doing a huge amount of running centrally it looked off. Not impossible to fix with coaching, but the one behind a two feels much more natural for us.

Why are we even debating Nick Powell 🙄 he's moved on seemingly and good luck to him. Agreed. He was good when he wasn't injured, but he was never not injured so we've moved him on. It doesn’t really need any analysis beyond that i don't think He was OK. I'm not sure where this idea that he was some kind of lower league world-beater is coming from (by some, not you). I genuinely think people are imagining it.
