Sounds positive though struggling to really understand the difference between the roles of Damian Allen and Mike Jeffries.

3 died in the wool County fans alone whose lads (who also attend County with them) I know of are at Accrington, Rochdale and Blackburn respectively im sure would have jumped at chance to come County first time they were picked up if the option was there Therefore we most possibly will do the same and the acadamy will not be restricted to Stockport area kids just like all of them aren,t either. If a kid gets a chance of going anywhere they should snap that offer up even if its not the team he supports. Getting a good reputation as a club is the best thing we can ask for regarding kids and one of the three mentioned above has a terrible reputation for using kids and discarding them quickly.

Academies aren’t particularly location restricted, I think they tend to cover regions rather than boroughs. Quite a few kids from my school ended up at Southampton including Luke Shaw - and I’m not close to Southampton. Ryan Beswick went to Leicester but I think that was after the Wimbledon setup relocated and all their kids had the option to go elsewhere if they wanted to… weird he ended up further away now I think about it.

As a parent locality would be the most important thing for me. However my sons don't be attending any academy ran by either Manchester team. I couldn't have their gear coming into my house...... the thought of it 🤮🤮🤮

Back in the 90,s when i officiated these games there was a maximum distance that teams could recruit players from. It was either 30 or 50 miles from their ground therefore it was really all local lads playing for these teams right up to under 18 level. For me 30 miles would be a good thing now unless your team is out on the limb like carlisle or barrow.

In the Centre of Excellence days, I think it was supposed to be a limit of 90 minutes' travel time. Not very well enforced which is why they've done away with locality restrictions now, particularly with EPPP

He was pleased for his lad.....If i was in a similar situation I'd be looking into adoption

Too many future dissapointments for the future that the lads themselves will have difficulty to take. Bad enough at 18 to think a career is over never mind at much younger an age. One reason i have never been a fan of them.

One reason i have never been a fan of them. I was having a conversation with someone in the office yesterday saying successful people in business are resilient. They will have come back from many set backs. Footballers are similar. If you can bounce back from disappointment you can make it. But also note that non league teams are full of ex academy graduates. I watched the Palace thing on channel 4 I found it uncomfortable watching, it was almost like organised child abuse. If my kids are good at football I'd prefer to link them in with Farsley, guiseley, bradford pa or Halifax than see them broken hearted by a Premier league club.
