Level 3 Granted… great news. Actually felt slightly emotional reading the club statement. The more we see the more I’m impressed by the current regime. The way it was written does feel like they understand what a football club should really be. I like it. I guess Jordan Keane can now join that coaching staff.

Great news and good words from Wilson. Agree with his sentiment on this. Nothing better than a homegrown player.

Obviously great news.
I get the impression that the plan to make us a sustainable club at the top end of league 1/championship revolves around having a top class academy generating money from player sales.
Makes a lot of sense with us being able to pick up players who slip through the net at City/Utd/Liverpool etc.
We’ve been successful at this with the sales of Holding and Hinchy even without the Cat 3 status

There are plenty of kids who get lost in the system at Old Trafford & the Etihad, who with the right coaching & encouragement can easily make an impact at EFL level

Hopefully not just talent that's been released either, but persuading lads that we're a better prospect than United / City, better chance of making the first team, etc.

Remember Tommy Rowe being released by United & coming to us, & he managed to make a career for himself, when all seemed lost

City and United you kind of expect it, but having those non-entity clubs have satellite training in Stockport, and sniff around and take our local talent has really grated over the past 12-15 years.

Lots of hard work there in a short time by lots of people we don’t know or see. Love the Cannon reference. Well done.

This is what i like about this new regime, there's obviously a hell of a lot of hard work going on in different areas behind the scenes, & when an announcement is officially made, there's none of this waiting 6 to 12 months for things to be put in place, the foundations are already there ready to go

Excellent news this, for far too long local lads have been lost to other North West clubs because we couldn't offer Academy status and the town is full of talented youngsters that we've missed out on.
With the right people in charge and the ambitions of the club to grow in this area I wouldn't be surprised to see us become one of the best local academies outside of the Premier League after a couple of years of finding our feet after implementation. I really think we'll be attracting some great talent with some breaking through to the first team and others now moving on for a tidy figure. We should be able to offer a proper pathway to the first team ahead of the likes of B*rnley, Preston, Blackburn, Stoke etc.
Another positive is the jobs and experience it is going to bring for youngsters with aspirations of working in the game while getting their qualifications in coaching, medical, nutrition/diet, strength & conditioning, analysis etc
Another massive step in the right direction for the club.

3 died in the wool County fans alone whose lads (who also attend County with them) I know of are at Accrington, Rochdale and Blackburn respectively im sure would have jumped at chance to come County first time they were picked up if the option was there

I'm coaching my under 9s and one or two from our club are being monitored by County with the odd invite to Woodley. Definitely moving in the right direction. Exciting times.
