If that’s true then it’s really disappointing and pretty petty tbh. Yeah, agree. I obviously can’t say for definite, Ive not been inviting the players myself, but as far as I know Jim hasn’t been invited. Which, when you hear about how different his view was on things from other club employees, it’s not hugely surprising.

I can’t imagine he’d have gone, but you can’t have a 96/7 event and not invite him

It’s not the first time they’ve been a bit vindictive and petty over Gannon and it probably won’t be the last unfortunately. He is in effect persona non grata to them and won’t be at any future events under this current ownership. I wasn't aware of that, I was under the impression he was well respected by the club, that's made a bad weekend worse.

Speaking of, is he invited to that 1996/97 squad night at EP? He wasn't amongst the initially confirmed guests. He’s not been invited. If that’s true that’s an absolute disgrace. People don’t like speaking up about the current ownership due to success but they’ve been here 5 minutes and they’re happy to try and write one of our greatest players and managers out of our history. He’s given over 25 years to County. The previous City fan that now owns this club has been here since 2020. Yes he’s ploughed lots of money in and provided almost immediate success but you don’t disrespect service like that unless you have no idea of what that service meant. Apologies for the rant but that’s made my blood boil. I really hope it isn’t true.

I’ve no reason to stir the pot, just relaying what I’ve been told.

Absolutely disgraceful if true and it's not disrespectful to air a show of support for the man. Much like singing Begaras name but those not aware of the reasoning may see it as a dig at DC in the ground.
I would say. Was he not at a recent event as a poster name..?

He was there at the memorabilia event last week and I know he was a speaker at a sportsman's dinner a few months ago.

Liam Richardson more or less saying he's been invited.
I wonder if he's a candidate for the Halifax job if the manager there gets the push. He's been involved a bit there from what I recall?

The memorabilia event was held by HTH, and the sportsman's dinner was a charity event organised by Andy Birchenough. Very different from an actual club-led event.

I can’t imagine he’d have gone, but you can’t have a 96/7 event and not invite him I might never have been Jim's biggest fan (as a Manager) - thought I actually did like him believe it or not. I'm considering my attendance though if it's true he's not invited. Legend both as a Player and Manager, played a massive part not only in the 96/97 Season in itself, but also in getting us to the position to do that (with his contribution from 89 onwards). The train of thought on his last sacking also seems to be that there wasn't a big fallout, just a difference in philosophy, and so we went our separate ways. No reason he therefore shouldn't be welcome back surely?
