In the boardroom update McKnight said:
"The Co-op has made an impressive start to its existence, although we firmly believe that the real asset is the team that plays inside that stadium, the name that has represented this town through the last 130 years, Stockport County Football Club, and this is the asset that most needs to be protected."
I've been thinking about this a lot and I disagree. The real asset is Stockport County that is true, but that is EP much more than a bunch of uncommitted, part time players who won't be here long and will remember us for little time beyond that.
A completely new company and team called stockport county and playing at EP will be much the more real asset than our current mob taking their talent and work ethic down to woodley.
So what is Stockport County? The team or the home?

Spot on. SCFC is the fans, the identity and IMO the home too. The home could change and we could still be County but so much of what EP represents is tied to the identity and obviously the fans. Ultimately, it's us. The rest can change.
The team is just a group of men wearing our shirt and badge.
Always has been.

Doesn't surprise me one bit seeing that our current board thinks the clubs biggest asset is the players. Just sums up how out of touch they are with reality.
Players come and go. The fans are Stockport County, Edgeley Park is Stockport County.

Lets put it this way, there are only 2 waya I will go and watch County play a home game away from EP.
1) We're on the up and require a new, custom built stadium 2) We somehow manage to get to FA Cup round 3 and draw United at home. We switch that and get a damn sight more money.

If we move from EP would anyone really follow this lot anywhere? They (shareholders and players)have come to us we have not followed them and I don't think anyone would. We'd have to build our own club following people we believe in.

Well said Vicar. I wouldn't be able to back a board that have brought us to this.
I personally think the negativity surrounding the club lies so deep that even if the current board leave and are replaced with the 'right bunch' we'd be on a road to ruin anyway.
I was dead set against a Phoenix club at the beginning but I see it as the only way of bouncing back. It won't work until the life support machine on the current club is turned off though.

Has anyone (the coop maybe?) been looking into the Phoenix idea as a fall back?
I have no idea at all of the work that would be involved in it but it's been done a few times now so I'm sure there would be a few people to give advice.
I would guess it would be quite important (if scfc were to fold) that the Phoenix be rolled out as quickly as possible to catch fans before any more find better things to do with their weekends.

We need tenable alternatives for a phoenix club. I would not follow this current lot away from EP though as to me they have nailed the coffin lid

For me, there is no tenable alternative. SCFC is the fans and the ground. Take either away and it is no longer SCFC.
The only way we move permanently, IMHO is if we get a new ground and that isn't happening.
If we started a phoenix somewhere like Cheadle, I would give it up.

The Board would do well to remember that. Anyone know some rich Arabs? SCFC and buying back EP would be pocket money for them. Otherwise longer term we need plan to get the ground back.

The club is almost dead to me now. I don't recognise us anymore. If they move us away from EP then that's me out for good!!!
