With no game today, please allow me to share my latest instalment from ‘The Streets of Stockport’ after walking another 23 miles eight days ago (the Friday before Newport at home). I’ve almost done the whole of Heaton Norris now. Another three full days of walking and I reckon I’ll have ticked off SK4 completely. Just seven Stockport postcodes to go after that! thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/a-jacket-potato-at-the-old-poco-aEnjoyed that one immensely Des. Took me around more than a few of my old stomping grounds. Both my Gran, when she was over here after being evacuated from Guernsey and Mrs H mk 1, Bernadette, were employed at the Poco during its various guises. Farmer Street (10) was the first home both my kids lived at. I paid £14,000 for it in 1982. What would it go for today? And, if you need to speak to someone about your new Channel 5 drama, you could do a lot worse than speak to Channel 5 stalwart and ex St Anne's pupil, Sally Lindsay.

Exeter City fan Matt Riley worked as a journalist in Thai football for many years, appearing regularly on the Fox Sports Central nightly show beamed across Asia, before returning to England as a lecturer in Business Management at the University of Exeter. Today, Matt’s kindly provided us with an exclusive extract from his new book, Kit & Community, which digs beneath the surface of inspirational and meaningful designs to reveal the incredible causes that use football shirts to spread their message. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/kit-and-community

I’ve produced fanzines, blogs and websites my entire life but I don’t think I’ve ever interviewed an MK Dons fan before. The national football magazine When Saturday Comes still excludes MK from their season preview each summer. If you’re in the same division as MK, however, it’s difficult to completely ignore them. I’ve always been interested to ask a few specific questions, so with County taking on Winkelman’s lot tomorrow, now feels like a good time to do so. Liam Connolly from The MK1 Podcast joins us for a chat. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/every-club-in-the-country-wants-you

It really is a big one tonight, isn’t it? The stress of the promotion race is even affecting our County correspondents, who are usually so calm and composed. Ian Brown was “trembling” as he compiled today’s offering, whilst Andrew Barlow has opted for some reverse psychology. After only one win in seven games, anything’s worth a go at this stage. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/county-v-mk-dons

I’m still not entirely sure how we won 5-0 yesterday so I’ve delegated match report duty to Phil Brennan. “Surreal,” was Phil’s first word that landed in my inbox this morning. It really was. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Cheadle End concourse so confused at half-time before, trying to decipher how we were three goals up at the break. It was just one of those days where everything seemed to go right. I left a few minutes before the end at 4-0 to squeeze in a few extra cuddles with my nephews before their bedtime, and by the time I got there County had even added a fifth. A huge, huge, huge three points in the promotion race. Toby Lock joins us for the first time for the visitors’ view, having been at Edgeley Park reporting on the game for the MK Citizen. thescarfmyfatherwore.substack.com/p/county-5-mk-dons-0

I like Mike Williamson. Such a shame he manages a crappy made up club.

I have a soft spot for Curzon. Seem to be a very well-run club, and a local club that we seem to never have any problems with (see also Alty). The idea that the Ashton nightlife has ‘declined’ scares me, though - it never had very far to decline! I hope the Witchwood is still going, at least
