Can someone please explain what it is? 🤣 is it cheesy chips and gravy or something? You can't have cheese with gravy, chips and gravy is fine, cheesy chips are fine but you can't do both.

On the subject of pizza I went to Alfredos Social yesterday for lunch. Well, an attempt for lunch anyway! Ordered a pizza and some meatballs to come at the same time, 40 mins later pizza arrived first and was what can only be described as room temperature and very sparse of toppings which was sent back and rightly so at £13.50, offered a replacement but said I didn't have time as I had a meeting in 15 mins. Meatballs followed 2-3 mins later and they were also not hot but the sauce over them was piping hot and that doesn't sit well with me as it shows signs of being microwaved badly. I won't even bother trying again, staff didn't seem to care and the place was smelling of off fish and damp so more fool me for staying and ordering. Just like that crap place before it it's all style over substance and people are only going because it's the Winters building. Stockport is still a long way away from the wonderful place everyone is proclaiming it to be and it's still very much a Friday & Saturday town.

I’ve put off reviewing my horrendous experience at Alfredo’s Social just before Christmas as I didn’t want to damn a new business; unfortunately, comments on here and elsewhere mean I now have no choice as things have clearly not been fixed.
I usually call at Rudy’s in Manchester Saturday lunchtime on my way to County Saturday pm, but decided to try Alfredo’s as it promotes itself as something similar - ie Neapolitan pizza.
If Rudy’s is 9/10, then Alfredo’s scores 2/10; I’ve been to Naples several times so know what I’m talking about.
In spite of being just after 12:00, I was directed to the worst table in an almost empty restaurant. Pizza was dry. No salt and pepper on table (both needed). Side salad a joke - dry rocket. Impossible to attract staff attention as walked around eyes-down avoiding any eye contact with customers. Service slow, disinterested, inattentive. Asked for olive oil to put on pizza - 50p charge appeared on bill. Chaotic organisation; pre-booked group table not ready: result - tables, chairs moved around all around me whilst eating, one couple moved mid-meal, and had one person stood for 5 minutes just 6 inches from my table (with back to me!). Insufficient staff for a busy Saturday lunchtime. Casual is ok; scruffy and unkempt is not. 20+ minute wait for espresso at end. Then a further 20 minute delay to ask for bill. Then a further 15 minute delay for bill to arrive. Staff too harassed to listen to constructive criticism; bill reduced, but points raised clearly not actioned judging from subsequent Trip Advisor comments, and previous on here (above). Et cetera.
Rudy’s success story in Manchester has shown how this should be done; Alfredo’s Social was so far short that I’m not going anywhere near again, and for anyone thinking of going, it’s bears little relation to proper Neapolitan pizza as found in Naples (in spite of publicity), nor to Rudy’s, or L’antica pizzeria da Michele (King Street) in Manchester both of which are top recommendations, along with one or two others.
Huge potential; massive disappointment.

Does sound like you had a crap experience Steve, Have to say though me & mate called in before the Notts County game (Friday afternoon) It was more for a drink as we were in the middle of a bit of a crawl but we felt peckish so ordered a pizza. Can't remember which one we ordered but thought it was tasty & well presented, the staff did seem shall we say a bit on the eclectic side but we enjoyed the couple of beers & pizza we had & then moved on. It's not somewhere I'd go for a meal if the meal was the main focus but on the day I thought it was somewhere ok to go to grab a beer & a quick nibble. Maybe it's being marketed as something it isn't or people are expecting too much? Either way there's no excuse for poor service especially as it's a new place trying to establish a customer base. Edit- Just read Andy's experience above which sounds extremely poor as well. To not be able to serve a pizza or meatballs hot is pretty darn poor, Pizza straight out of pizza oven, straight to server, straight to customer, not hard is it!

I’ve only been in once, went for a drink with a mate in the middle of a wobble on a Saturday night in December.
The drinks were fine but almost every table was covered with dirty plates. They’d obviously been busy, this was about 9:30pm, but it looked a right shithole and as if nobody cared.

Not eaten in that Alfredo's but tried to once. Apparently you had to have booked. The guy working there sounded positively delighted to tell us that. Like American Psycho when the guy just laughs down the phone at Patrick Bateman.
Sounds shit anyway.

When I described the staff as 'eclectic' to be honest a couple of them looked like they had the attitude of 'hey I'm too cool to work man'

When I’m in charge I’m going to make it punishable by something horrible to be able to reserve tables in pubs or bars. f*cking grow up. If you want a seat get in there early. Restaurants are exempt, that’s fine, but being able to reserve a table in a pub or bar for drinks, and the bar moving drinkers are happily sat there when the party arrives, is one of the great atrocities of our time.

It’s definitely not shit but as I said earlier I've had better pizzas, the atmosphere was good and it was full on a Thursday evening we enjoyed it.

We enjoy Bask after the game but often give it a swerve when there's nowhere to sit but several empty tables with reserved signs on 😡

Looks like I’m an outlier with my positive experience at Alfredo’s! 7 of us went in between Christmas and New Year (we’d booked), service was fine, got served our food as quickly as you’d expect, thought it was good quality and didn’t feel over priced either. Only thing for me was the tables being packed in together but that didn’t bother me/us too much.

As I said we went in last Thursday and had a good time, not the best pizza ever but a pizzas a pizza isn't it and I've travelled all over Italy and basically we're talking about dough, tomatoes and whatever else, there's not a lot to get wrong unless you burn it.

They’re prioritising people not there over those who are in and spending. I can’t articulate how much it winds me up. Not just at Bask but any venue. As I say, if you want to make sure you’ve got a table then get in early and bag it. Dont think you can just turn up later on and turf someone out of the seat they’ve been sat in all afternoon.

Me and a mate tried to eat in there before Xmas, the place was empty bar one table but we were told it was fully booked with a bit of attitude so we went to amp and got a great burger. As for Bask it’s not for me that place, probably an age thing but it always seems really noisy, the sound just bounces around and the reserved tables thing is annoying and for what I drink the beer is crap, I’d rather go to the Petersgate Tap or the Angel!
