Or the “very difficult chance” as Mr Dublin described it?! Who also said “he went for laces when he should have side footed it” IIRC? It’s precisely the sort of indecision you’d expect from the Premier League’s most expensive player! That’s it!

Would rather see Shaw at LCB than Maguire. Foden in for Grealish and that is just about our strongest team for me.

Grealish *i think* is the most fouled player in the PL. He gets emptied left, right, centre and gets very little protection from referees in football. I can recall 2 incidents by Kane where he rolled back on to the pitch to ensure the ref had to stop play and disrupt the Italians, not a bad move IMHO. It was some top sh*thousery that, especially the one from the corner when the ball hit him in the stomach! Saying that, I'd be seething if an opposition player did it at EP. Exactly and thats the main point of it is happening and do not want us going down the line of if we cannot beat em we,ll join em.

One of the best England displays I've seen for a few years. Actually managed to stay awake for the whole 90 minutes! Definitely a game of 2 halves but as Vicar stated showed true grit in the 2nd half especially with a ref who really didn't want us to win. Liked the way we set up but I really hope we've got a young centre back coming through soon because Maguire is definitely the weak link in my opinion, but overall it was a superb collective effort. As for the utter tool with the Maradona flag I'd of filled him in there & then as soon as he unfurled it. On top of disrespecting a dead person & a legend to that area he put his fellow fans at risk in a city which has a notorious reputation for violence. It's symptomatic of what's happening with football up & down the country at the moment, There's a new breed, I wouldn't even bracket them with the hooligans of yesteryear as back in my day you went out of your way to avoid police detection for as long as possible, nowadays it seems to be the opposite & it seems to be about attracting attention in a 'look at me' fashion, maybe the rise of social media plays it's part but there's a definite surge in bellendery at the moment.

Agree, it was a very good win. No doubt about that. The 1st half performance was excellent. Grealish should've wrapped things up to make it three. Not sure that people are criticising as such. More a case of taking the p*ss out of some of the nonsense on display, particularly Grealish and his theatricals. Kane also did a neat triple roll near the end. But I guess he's excused. Getting a win on Italian soil in a competitive game. That's fantastic. And that 1st half display was great. But do we really need all the rolling about? It's not even very good rolling about. Not a fan of shithousery, whoever does it. If that was Neymar we'd all be (rightly) up in arms. It's a part of Kane's game that he doesn't need - he's good enough without it.

A fairly comfortable start for England, and I'd say that Italy away was our hardest game on paper. Italy were really poor though, and it's easy to see why they have failed to qualify for the last two world cups, they created absolutely nothing after they scored their goal. Ukraine were bog-standard, middle-of-the-road European opponents. England should top this group from here.

They're also the current European champions, they could well beat us at Wembley so goal difference could be a factor.

We seem to be a bit of a machine in qualifying, which hasn’t always been the case. The first 2 WCs I remember (74 and 78) we weren’t at.
We are also quite good generally at getting out of the group stages. We fall down usually when we play the first half decent team. The other team can always play for a draw as we are crap at penners.
