‘ The proposal to change the name of the club to Salford ’92 was egotistical, the move to the white elephant AJ Bell Stadium suicidal’ Jesus Christ. Scanned through that and get the impression they’re a club who are proud of their history and if they’d made it to the FL as they were (that might’ve been very difficult, obviously), they would’ve had a load more respect from the football world like, for example, Wimbledon (yeah, I know, completely different situations). This Class of ‘92 stuff must be unsettling for the small number who stuck it out. that’s just it. Nobody begrudges traditional top end non league clubs like Sutton or Barnet, or clubs that build organically like Stevenage a run in the league - the better clubs like Wycombe and Cheltenham who come up via that route end up looking like part of the furniture. it’s the moneyed nonentity clubs like Salford, Fleetwood and Crawley that need to go.

They were time wasting from about 4 mins into the game, referee did nothing about it all game. In fact out of all the abysmal refs we've had this season that ref takes the award hands down as the worst of the lot (he's lucky he didn't get lynched in the pitch invasion tbh) how we finished with 11 men on the pitch is a miracle, it seemed like every minor infringement on our part warranted a yellow even challenges we were winning fairly, & he paid no attention to their blatant time wasting & feigning of injury at every opportunity. I can handle a ref making the odd wrong call here & there, it's part & parcel of the game but I really started questioning whether there was some hidden agenda going on or one of the class of '92 had chucked him a bung he was that bad! Coupled with the dodgy goal scored in the 1st leg at their place it all made the way the game ended & the victory so much sweeter. I never thought he'd send any of ours off, he didn't have the bottle, same as he raised his whistle at our 2nd goal, if we'd missed he'd have given a foul, but he wasn't going to disallow the goal, terrible, weak referee Think there has been many question marks over referees performances in big games over the years. You would think like at parks football level the refs with a better record would get the semi or final games, but are these given to the ones who are more plyable to attempt to get the result that is wanted from the powers at the top. Will be interested to see if any of those involved in league 2 PO semi,s do get promoted next season to a higher level.

Non league clubs like to be non league. I had a colleague who was a blythe fan and he never wanted to go higher than nln. Hopefully next year harrogate and salford go down closely followed by Crawley. Plastic clubs. You could have a good point there. When we went down to the NL and pools fans are doing the same they have earmarked already what they class as a good game. They all revolve around those traditional long time ex league clubs. Wonder if the traditional non league clubs fans prefer games against similar types of club also and not bothered about ex league clubs falling on hard times.

Get the impression non league fans love putting one over on Billy Big Bollocks league clubs who think they're too good to be there, but eventually start to feel sorry for clubs like us & Wrexham who are far too big to be there and have 'served their time', and whose fans develop a grudging admiration for parts of the non-league game. The smaller ex-league Clubs like Chester / Aldershot / Halifax gradually start to feel part of the non-league furniture, in the same way as older ex-league clubs like Southport / Bradford PA do.
Everyone still hates Fylde / Salford etc. that's universal common sense.

Think the fans of the clubs you mention vary into two sections. Their older fans who were there in the league days are like the rest, cannot wait to get back. Its the new fans who have embraced non league more. I was speaking to a bradford pa fan i know prior to the last time we played them. Similar age to me and still moaning about the fact this was not a league game. Once these die out they,ll become like staly and nelson types of clubs where their league past is just in history books. We hate fylde and salford but wonder who the sides are that southern fans hate in the same way.

FGR are an exception that don't quite fit either model
They built in a Stevenage / Burton type way, spending a good few years building infrastructure and fanbase, rather than just chucking money at players, and have gradually grown attendances, all the stuff you'd expect. They're also located in the middle of nowhere, so have relatively little competition for catchment areas etc, but also a fairly small population within that catchment.
Problem is that Vince is such a divisive character - and makes it feel a bit more like a vanity project than it would be otherwise.

No one tells me I can't have a chicken balti pie at the match. "Oooh look at us recycling our rainwater and a robot mowing the pitch". Pathetic.

Proper random memory from Saturday.... Did anyone else see the fan on the pitch at the end with a proper old school scarf(think it was that silky material) with the words 'Stockport Cty' on it? It looked cool, and probably has some history behind it.

"Oooh look at us recycling our rainwater and a robot mowing the pitch". Pathetic. That is the downside of them having an owner pushing his agenda out to visiting fans as well as home fans who see things differently to him. On the plus side there are plenty of small towns between them and the nearest other league clubs. The two bristols and cheltenham and swindon and they are not situated in a green desert as some really think. The new clubs who are fulfilling a need by being there because there is no close alternatives to watch live football are fine but its the salfords and to a lesser extent fylde where there are others close bye.

Just watched the extended County highlights, surprised the first half body-check on Rydel wasn't included. Pitch invasion took place despite it not being allowed, partly to be expected. What I cannot understand is why certain so called grown ups think they have to run on to the pitch carrying 2-3 year old children, an accident waiting to happen. Even saw a guy with small kids in both hands! Don't want to appear to be a killjoy but they would be the first to complain should anything happen.
