"Long stated aim of fan representation". Really? I don't recall anyone stating that and if they wanted it they could quite easily have done it.

To be fair it is a long stated aim.
Whether it's a genuinely meant stated aim is open to question. I reckon not. At all.

We have good people in Brammall and Park who care about County. Let's not pop at the good guys in town. They clearly want to head back in that direction and I think they should be applauded for their efforts so far. They are at least now starting to try and get things right. I agree people should be questioned coming in to the club but only yesterday it was revealed they will be regularly updating fans with statements and they have done that today. I am sure that communication will continue to improve and regular updates will be forthcoming.

I think all at the thick end of running the club this last 3-4 years have come at the whole thing from the opposite viewpoint of the fans.
One thing that continually strikes me about us and other clubs is something I learned through work a couple of years ago. I was transcribing an interview for someone who was behind rebrand/relaunches of iconic brands and institutions.
His whole ethos is that before he seeks to act on behalf of these people, he first makes sure he totally understands them. Otherwise he has no right to guide them anywhere.
It sounds like such a simple thing to say and it should be a given, but at how many clubs is it? Very few.
All too often, football club execs are all about their own egos. It's their journey and we are their vehicle. It's the tail wagging the dog. It's daft. It's simple. But even people who have been around our club for years (Gibbons, Snape) make the same mistake. It's about them doing their thing and everyone else being wrong.
RM has been big on declaring our club too vain. Having various trappings of football league status when we're not a football league club currently. And yet he's run the club in his own vision, with little regard for what the club's own character is. All while having a fancy title and doing interviews with national papers. And staying in a hotel once or twice a week. Vanity? He'd know.
Getting rid of dyed in the wool County fans and replacing them for only marginally less, then dressing it up as a hard headed business decision. SF floating the idea of renaming EP on the same day he announced the Danny Bergara stand was beyond crass. It didn't even end with the club having any cash to show for it. Likewise the whole City thing which resulted in him asking to meet me, and me meeting him. It's all wrong. The first thing anyone wanting to act on this club's behalf should do is make serious inroads into understanding the club.
That's what every exec of every club should seek to do. It'd make their job so much easier. But they never seem to do it.
That's where divisions between fans and owners come from and what start out as cracks end up as gaping holes which are impossible to fill.
The mistrust and misunderstanding of the supporters from the board has been astounding at times.

Very good post.
If when Ryan gets back into football he should take a copy of that and immerse himself with certain sections from it. It wasn't blue sky thinking that the largest ever non league club needed, it was a basic core understanding of your customer and what they would like to consume to remain an even stronger one on the tough journey ahead.
Had he done that, he may just have had a chance, alas he did the complete opposite and went on to fully dismantle the fans trust in a way that can be only described as how to completely lose influence and alienate people.
