Of the feathered variety. Just sat in the back garden, after work, with a beer and Tms whirring away in the background and marveling at the fauna on our doorstep here in god's own. Within 30 minutes, two Buzzards soaring, a flock of Parakeets, a Rook, several Jackdaws, a Goldfinch, a noisy Wood Pidgeon, Sparrows, a Blackbird and a very large Shithawk (Lesser black-backed gull, I think). Being reasonably close to the coast and having the Peak district on our doorstep does bless us with some pretty amazing flora and fauna. Ducks for cover from the puns! I do like a noisy wood pigeon, I’ve got particularly gobby one living in a tree next to me

Living in rural Spain, we have all the same birds as you do. We think we've got a couple of wrens nesting in our bouganvilla bush at the moment but one you don't get in the UK, is this little fella that we see and hear quite regularly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_hoopoe

saw one of those in Greece (Lesvos) once, they're great.
They do turn up in the UK occasionally, know a friend of mine saw one out Warrington way a few weeks back.

Loads of red kites down here in the sarf They’ve also successfully reintroduced storks after they got hunted to local extinction 600 years ago Yes, used to give me something to watch in stationary traffic on the M40 in Oxfordshire 😁 Not aware they've done a reintroduction of kites in Derbyshire, so they must be spreading up from there or down from North Yorkshire. Back in the late 1960s I was in a birdwatching group when I was in the RAF at Hereford. One winter weekend we went away down to Tregaron in mid-Wales to try and see a red kite - the UK population was less than a dozen then - two days in mind-numbing cold for the privilege of seeing one for about twenty seconds. 2003, and I was back in the UK for work. I had a few days visiting family in the West Country and was driving back towards London on the M40, and the best part of that trip back was seeing ten or so in line abreast soaring on the thermals over the Chilterns.

Two screaming Swifts, two high-flying Mallards, a Blackbird giving it six nowt in the next door Silver Birch, a Sparrowhawk, several dozen assorted corvids heading off to roost, a big gull that if it keeps eating down at Bredders tip could take on an Albatross, a gang of mithering Maggies harassing Daisy the cat, a speedy bugger flashing by that could have been a Peregrine but could not tell with the naked eye but as OH quite rightly stated they do hang around Pear Mill, tonight. No Partridge in a Pear tree, but a fat noisy Woody in our Apple Tree.

Been one up here on Orkney a couple of days ago. I'm a birder living in Cyprus where there are thousands of migrating birds Spring and Autumn. It's a hobby where I can tell my wife I'm going looking for Great Tits and a Shag and get away with it 😀.

I’ve never really had much interest in birds until recently when I got the opportunity to go birding in Mindo (Ecuador) and the Peruvian Amazon. One of the most diverse regions on the planet for birds and seen some amazing birds some of which had comical mating behaviours such as dancing etc. Lots of hummingbirds, toucans, tanagers, harpy eagles and mot mots to name a few. Was surprisingly more enjoyable than I expected!
