Well said. But don't the folks in UT3 tend to stand as well? Yes, at the back. Someone who sits up there will know better than me but it looks to be a few rows towards the back rather than most of the block. It is. Everyone stands from the row behind where we sit, so we have a choice to stand or not without annoying anyone.

Do we make LT1 a possible trial area for safe standing? Sort it once and for all, I'd have preferred it to be central but that has certainly been a standing area for a long time. Probably makes sense.. at least to warn people buying tickets in that area that people regularly stand. Personally though I’d rather they just nominate all UT areas as safe standing.. let the singers and drummers absolutely go for it.. it’ll not be a bad thing. I guess the question is do we need a safe standing safely away from the ‘ultras’.. is that LT1 is all about?

Back of the Main Stand in the press area; right on the halfway line. Best overall view in EP but there will always be things that can’t be seen regardless of where you sit. Players blocking views, angles on things. Not everyone has bionic eyes matbot. Which is why we need a massive f*ck off sparkling new Pop Side (as promised) with a state of the art gantry.

We have a great view right at the front of the UT above the stairwell so nobody can block the Mrs view, they can leave that well alone 🤣

The last thing we want is a drummer and a load of kids bouncing around.

The last thing we want is a drummer and a load of kids bouncing around. I know this is something that the club probably won’t put it writing or acknowledge, but isn’t working stuff like this out just part of becoming a fan? And isn’t part of the sense of belonging and becoming part of the family a necessary rite of passage? I’m probably taking my 6 year old to her first game when we play Walsall, and I know to buy tickets in the family block on the Pop Side, not in UT3. If I didn’t know that, I’d know it next time. If I was put off by people standing, being boisterous etc, and decided not to come back, then maybe going to football just isn’t for me? It’s this sense that for some people everything is purely transactional, that if the exact experience they want (based on their own personal demands) isn’t spoon-fed, then they’re an aggrieved customer. People like that aren’t likely to stick around anyway. I’m probably not explaining this very well, but the main point is that everyone should be welcome to join the County family, but that might ask a bit of give as well as take. Something you can just buy, like going to the cinema, isn’t worth nearly as much as something that you commit to, right?

Going to the football is totally different any other leisure pursuit (eugh). It’s one of the most important things in most of our lives. We absolutely don’t want kids/families being abused or anything like that but, as you say, if they find it a bit rowdy in some spots then hopefully they either enjoy it and stick there or move over to a different spot. Those in LT1 aren’t newbies or thugs just looking to cause trouble, they’re some of the most loyal fans we’ve got who have been all over. The differences in our fan base is to be embraced. And I’d much rather be in LT1 as it is with the standing, shouting and swearing than it be a sanitised tourist experience.

And to add, there’s an awful lot of responses about ‘what about new fans’ in various scenarios. Yeah, we don’t want to never have new fans. But what about the existing fans who kept the club when we fell further than rock bottom and spend thousands every season travelling up and down the country at the expense of lots of other things in their lives. Let’s not forget about them.

Let’s not forget about them. A big thing for me, regarding the importance of EP expansion, is giving people the option to choose where in the ground is right for them. So as to allow new fans who might not want to stand and sing and chant (which is not to say all new fans would feel that way in the slightest) while also allowing people who have been going through the bleakest period of our club to still go and enjoy themselves, as they always have done while we’re on the up.
