Havin' used it now for a couple of months. 1. If you quote someone who has also quoted someone the dialog box gets enormous. So it's much better to cut and paste a comment or part of a comment like the old site does. 2. No spellcheck. 3. The avatar's are too big when most threads are a few lines the avatar's make the dialog boxes over large cutting down the amount of comments that can fit on one page. 4. The acid banter on the dark side is still better. 5. Keeping the match thread under one title makes one scroll to the last entry sometimes 3 or 4 pages for the latest which often means you scroll past the score update to a performance comment. This means you have to have the dark side open at the same time for goal flashes. My facebook was quicker at goal flashes for the Oxford match. 6. You can see how many hits a thread gets but no way of knowing if your contribution has ever been read by anyone. those are my initial thoughts. How about yours?

1 - you can easily copy just half a comment if you wish
2 - true, but at least you can edit over here!
3 - avatars are the very worst thing about message boards the world over. The first thing any reasonable individual should do on joining a new board is turn them off. Anyone who doesn't do this is not to be trusted.
4 - depends on your view on 15 year old feuds and 'I'm more ITK than you' bollocks really. It was always going to be a problem when the idiotic decision to split the memberships was made really
5 - true, but equally, it means you don't get discussion split over 4 different threads all called 0-3!!!!FFS. advantages both ways really
6 - you do know that the counter on the old board counted views by yourself / multiple views by the same poster etc? It wasn't actually a very telling statistic really.

Nothing wrong with this board, the acid banter isn't what we need, we just need a few of the old farts to give it a try.

Personally I must prefer this site. It'll be nice when more people post but we are at our lowest point ever so maybe as and when the fan base becomes more active this will too.
As someone who has read the other board for years but not posted it's refreshing to not have this one full of feuds and people claiming to know more than they do.

Well I for one don't claim to know more than I do. I actually do know more than i do.

by keeping YB but rebranding back to MB is the main reason this Board hasn't taken off . . . it diluted the membership instead of making it black and white, this site or nowt . . . this would have ensured that this site would have been a success . . . I don't bother on here normally and it's that very reason why I don't, nothing more, nothing less . . .

You're absolutely right.

I agree it should have been all or nothing, I was probably just trying to be diplomatic at the time.
Two boards was never going to work and people would always stick with what what they know, hence why the old board is still busy.
Funny how the one person on the old board who spat his dummy and kicked up such a fuss hasn't posted since either.

Pretty much none of those who were against this board gave it a chance. Says all you need to know.

Funny how the one person on the old board who spat his dummy and kicked up such a fuss hasn't posted since either. so why not just shut a board down now? We all knew all along that two boards wasn't going to work, so the only decision is whether to keep the better one, or the one from which people stuck with through habit. It would be a better solution than two half arsed boards surely?

It's a shame that it looks like the old board is going to be the one which prevails, the people against this board will claim it's because of the format, which is utter bull in my opinion. It's all down to the content, the more active and 'interesting' posters (to avoid the whole issue of accusations of cliques, ITK and toxic attitudes to certain people) haven't moved over to here. If the change was forced through and the old board shut down there would be no issue.
The format on Marionsboard is archaic and a completely defunct style of message board. I still can't get my head around how people can prefer a board which doesn't sort posts in time chronological order and stifles discussion by having relevant topics bumped down by drivel like "what did you eat for tea".
Given as this thread mentioned some feedback, just my two cents in relation to this board:
1. The border between, at least on my monitors, seems a bit too big. It creates a lot of dead-space coupled with the avatars. I have no issue with avatars on forums, but they're quite large on this forum compared to the relatively small 'box/header' for board content. Merely aesthetics is what I take issue with.
2. Maybe look to increase the number of posts allowed on a page before it creates a new one. I've seen a few people who have migrated from Marionsboard complaining of being the 'last' poster on a page, having say, 30-50 replies to a page (for example The Football Forum is using 50 replies) may remedy this to some extent. Not to mention the psychology of seeing a thread with 8+ pages compared to what would maybe only 2-4 pages with a higher post to page layout.
I appreciate that both Suedehead and Terry will be pinned back by Proboards limitations, I have no idea if this sort of thing can be customised within Proboards or if such a Proboard skin exists. Nonetheless the pro boards format is by far the best message board software short of the hideously expensive Invision Powerboard.
