It's extremely unlikely my Mum would have met my Dad if Hitler hadn't invaded Guernsey causing 17,000 locals to be evacuated a lot of whom came to Stockport. I owe mine to the imperial german navy,s dodgy unexploding shells that fell on hartlepool in their bombardment of the town in 1914. One fell close to my old man on his way to school.

It's even less likely that my Hungarian grandad would have decided to leave his first wife and infant daughter to move to Stockport and marry a woman 11 years younger than him. Mine to the Russians who were doing the old annexe Lithuania business (again after brief independence)so my Great Grandad (Mothers side) upped sticks and came to the UK around 1918 I believe.
