Hi everyone, thank you to Admins for allowing me to post this on here, much appreciated. This info has not gone public yet but I know we have a great county/music/culture/community cohort so this an advance heads up ⚽️🎼🎥📺💙
This a call out to all County Fans and beyond who may wish to get involved in a richly enjoyable and valuable project. Here's the One-Pager
What is the “Manchester’s Guitar” project..?
In essence it is a documentary and the underlying theme is mentoring/support, and ultimately it will deliver huge opportunities and benefits across Greater Manchester
It’s called “Manchester’s Guitar” and we have a guitar (unsurprisingly) which has been/is being/will be played by everyone from the Manchester music scene over the last 50 years
Already filmed includes ...
Buzzcocks
Joy Division
New Order
Ambitious Beggars
Four Candles
Stone Roses
Happy Mondays
Black Grape
Elbow
Badly Drawn Boy
all...
the...
way..
to...
Kashmere
Fuzzy Sun
Dirty Laces
Corella
Slow Readers Club
And we are getting everyone in between with all bar a few signed up and expected to be filmed over the next 12 months
Filming started in 2020
Official launch of the project 23/04/24
Documentary Premiere 04/06/2026
We interview them about life, Music, Manchester, and somewhere in there ask them…
1. Did they have someone in the early days who always believed in them and supported them (even when they didn’t necessarily believe in themselves)..?
2. What would have happened if they had not been there…?
All proceeds to go to in support of vulnerable young (14-34) people across Greater Manchester affected by drugs/gangs/homelessness/mental health - to be distributed direct to grassroots support projects

Event
* Introduction to project | Show Trailer |. Special Guests performing and being interviewed on stage
**Manc Disco music only DJ set with Merchandise/Memorabilia opportunities
Purpose
Raising awareness, recruiting volunteers and professionals, fundraising, enjoyment
Well then what..?
if successful it will be replicated with Liverpool’s Guitar, Scotland’s Guitar, Yorkshire’s Guitar (all of which I commissioned from the same builder, unique designs and sat in my living room!)
I have spoken with Charlie Parish (DoP The Book of Eli, and who produced, in my opinion the greatest documentary series ever made ‘The Defiant Ones’) who believes the concept is perfect for Netflix as a Limited Series and who would be interested in Co-creating “America’s Guitar”
I know…
So… it is ambitious and has great scope, but initially and crucially this is a local project delivering a beautiful piece of art and benefiting local people who need some support
How can you help..?
We need a savvy media partners who get Manchester; we need paid professionals to join the team: and we have truly exciting and rewarding volunteer and intern roles
Thanks again
