For what it's worth, it looked from the Cheadle Upper like Ormson was fouled for their goal, and the ref didn't penalise another aerial 'challenge' on him in the second half, but even so, he's the one County player where I'm genuinely tempted to say I might be able to do better. I played in goal for a mid-table team for a year or so in the Manchester Publicity League in the mid 00s and the team I keep for now is reigning champions of the Tuesday Early Premier League Sixes at the Soccerdome, North Greenwich. Sorry, Ian, you seem like a nice lad but I'll put my record up against yours and see who's best.
Cowen seems to be able to competently judge where a high ball is going, get underneath it and head it away which, given our recent centre-half pairs, makes him look like Franco Baresi.
It's got to the point where I can see what Moses does, we probably missed him today. But it's got to the point where lads like Tunji Moses, who wasn't even the best player on my girlfriend's brother's school team is one of our better players. Nobody in that team had the physical presence to put their foot in. I don't even think it's a case of not trying, they're just too soft. Duxbury made a couple of good interceptions about 3 minutes before they announced MOTM, I'm sure the sponsors had no clue who to nominate and thought sod it, number 3'll do.

must admit I didn't think it was quite as bad as all that. Plenty of effort on both sides, just very little quality. ratings Ormson - 5 - the one howler per game ratio continues, and unfortunately he didn't get away with it today. Shame, as he was decent otherwise. Jacobs - 7 - typical Jacobs performance. Battled and got forward well, but is just a shade short of the required quality for the right end of this league Cowen - 8 - I really like him. The dominant centre back we've missed for years, albeit a hoof-y one Fagbola - 6 - started poorly, with two bad errors, possibly pitch related, but much better later on Duxbury - 7 - another solid game. Certainly doesn't look like a teenager learning the game Platt - 6 - not great today, struggled to impose himself first half, and lots of misplaced passes Lofthouse - 7 - seems to improve a little by the game, but still not one to be starting every week for me. Turner - injured very early, hopefully not too serious as we really missed him Jevons - 7 - at the heart of anything decent we did, but things just weren't coming off. Howard - 7 - see Jacobs Dickinson - 5 - very poor today, won a few headers, but not nearly enough, and looked generally off the pace. subs Moke - 5 - one decent bit of skill just before half time, but nothing else Dennis - 6 - I think a loan spell would do him good. There's definitely something there with him, but stepping up three levels currently looks like it's a little beyond his ability Churchman - too little time. I agree with most of that but think 5 for Dicko is harsh, I thought he played quite well today. His hold up play is better than anyone else we have and he offers a bit of a physical threat due to his height, that the others don't. He's some way off full fitness but it's good to see him getting through games, having not played for so long prior to rejoining us. Dennis will come good too, I think. He's pretty good on the ball and not too wasteful in general possession, I just think he needs a run like he had in pre-season to get his confidence up. I hope so anyway, I can see him being a good player for this level. He was played in a strange position when he came on though. It was the first time I'd seen Cowan today and I thought he was an improvement on Tunni, a bit more imposing and decent at the basics. Fagbola seemed a bit less error-prone beside him as well. Moke, though, I'm afraid is bobbins. Lift your head up when you're running with the ball man! We badly missed Turner after he went off, hopefully his hamstring is just strained, not torn.

Perhaps it's like watching some abstract theatre or listening to difficult jazz, maybe we have to appreciate the nuances of present day County and find humour in the farcical, like their goalkeeper watching their winger make a left to right run, giving himself acres of space and shouting for the ball, only to then watch the keepers attempt to pick him out sail into the Main Stand, or them turning up in a kit that was last seen in 1980. It should help distract from the reality of watching two poor teams chugging around a shoddy pitch, whacking the ball around with little control whenever it gets near to them, which could apply to most games, including today's. I've seen worse games though, I'm sure of that. Hopefully 2014 will be better! But the thing with difficult jazz/theatre is they're normally indoors, in the warm...

i would of taken 7 out of 9 points in the three home games this week. its all about staying out of trouble while building towards next season when we won't have all the experienced waste of space players like tunnicliffe, charnock, o'halloran, craney, hand and verma taking up a big chunk of the budget. Well said. Yes we are in general an average side, but we do have some decent players. Dicko looking OK, Jacobs steady, turner as always looks a class above this level. I also like the new centre half and duxbury will/should develop into a decent fb. Still have a major concern with our keeper. Sick of people slagging off the team whilst continuing with their self imposed exile from games because of mcshite. Ffs, get over it. He will be gone soon, mark my words. The club has some fantastic supporters such as JF. I also said I would take 7 points from the 3 games. Okay it was a poor performance today, but after the bpa game I suppose it was on the cards. Sorry but really peed off with people moaning who have stopped going. Back to that bottle of red. Thank you and goodnight

True and you can get ice cream at the interval! I remember Nick Hornby in Fever Pitch saying football was unique in terms of how much people pay to get in to something they seem to actively dislike doing, week after week. I don't know, it's odd, it was a really poor game today but I'm sure I'll find myself at EP again soon!

Its already been said but the pitch is an absolute disgrace.
If you don't believe me take a look at the BPA match programme centre pages and look at it now.
The performance today was well below par. Continuously bossed off the ball by wkton.
The ref was even worse than the one in the Telford match. Total ******. Still cannot believe how bad the refs are at this level. Total *******.
We need Rhys back ASAP. We need the fight back ASAP. No more lacklustre performances thank you.
MOM shouldn't have been one.

It wasn't a foul on Ormson for the goal, but in the Premier League, with spoilt fans and players moaning, and cameras waiting to replay it several times, it probably would have been.

I think fatigue was a major factor today, two part time teams squeezing in a lot of games in a tight time frame on a heavy pitch meant we were unlikely to witness a classic. Even pampered premier league players find it tough going.

my ratings for today for what its worth
Ormson - 5 could be argued as a foul for the goal but he needs to be stronger he got pushed about multiple times today, otherwise average
Jacobs - 6 tries as always and i like that however sometimes lacking in quality
Cowen - 8 like him a lot seems comfortable and doesn't mess about, fagbola's performances have also upped when hes in the team (bar today)
Fagbola - 5 few errors which we expect now but i still think our second best center half
Duxbury - 7 solid i like him a lot very composed, a few mistakes as he tired but our most consistent player
Platt - 4 awful, i normally slate moses but he was twice as good last week and platt was today, cant pass or tackle and i genuinely think i could deliver better corners and free kicks
Lofthouse - 6 looks promising and can pick a pass but dont really want him starting every week
Turner - cant comment went off too early
Jevons - 6 nothing special today apart from converting his pen, most quality on the pitch though and it showed at times
Howard - 7 suprised we took him off as most of what was happening came through him, really tries but would like him to take his man on more often
Dickinson - 6 so so so slow but is starting to hold up and head the ball well and i think he is going to come good
subs
Moke - 4 really bad, until today i thought we have under used him but now i see why, got pace but stops as soon as he can see a defender, wont get stuck in either
Dennis - 6 was played too deep would have liked to see him pushed up didnt make much of a difference though
Churchman - didnt play long enough

We were unlucky today. The referee gave us a penalty and nothing more. He was awful. It was as if he felt guilty for giving us the equalizer against little old Workington. Towards the end of the first half we started to get into our stride and got into some decent positions only to slumble or slip on the surface. Dicko won 99% of his aerial in the second half. The only problem is there was nobody to get on the end of these flick-ons (Turner)
All in all it might be two points dropped, but a month ago we would have rolled over and lost this match. Good to see the players attitude in being disappointed too.

Serious question
Has anyone seen Moke head a ball from a goal kick ?

True what you say about the ref and it now seems to be happening regularly, I wonder if we're treating them right when they arrive at the ground or if they're just being shunted off to their changing room. It does appear that we're not liked by the majority of refs, yes we're rubbish but nearly every tackle is now resulting in a free kick against us.

We should definitely have had a penalty at the end there, that was much more of a penalty than the one we were given.

Christ it looked blatant from my seat in the Cheadle End, how on earth have the ref or linesman not seen that.
Where do they find these officials?
