Are we just writing off all cup competitions now then because they’re not as important as the league?
The cup gives us moments. Some of the best of our lives.
We wouldn’t play this team against United in the FA Cup, but I suspect some would be happy if we did just in case we might get an injury.

Watson and Cina on; not sure what anyone can make of that, but they're on.

We've got 12 senior outfield players injured, if we played a strong team tonight and we got a few injuries fans would be absolutely fuming, it's a lose-lose for DC. If we played a strong team, won, and then drew Everton in the next round everyone would be buzzing. It’s not lose-lose. I know we’ve had bad injuries but this mindset of just writing off the League Cup is shit. It’s not the senior cup, it’s a proper competition . Genuinely, I wouldn’t be more upset with injuries tonight than if we got any against Blackpool. But the likelihood of that is so low. It's not worth the risk/reward. The point is less about who a player gets injured against (god forbid) but that the same lads playing 3 games in 8 days this early on in the season, many after their own injury issues, increases the risk.

These games matter. I won’t lose much sleep over it, but really genuinely disappointed in the club for how they’ve approached this one. Massively needless own goal.

I think Challinor has got this one wrong I’m afraid. We’re light on numbers, I get that, but what’s the worst that can happen if we play a few of the better players we do have available? We might lose at Blackpool? So what? There’s a decent chance we’ll lose at Blackpool anyway. Likewise there’s a decent chance we’ll win at Blackpool anyway. I think we’ll give League One a really good crack this season. I actually think we’ll make the playoffs. But I don’t for a minute seriously think we are going to be promoted. Nor should we, these things take time. Should’ve taken this game more seriously for me. Absolutely no chance we'll make the play offs with our injury record. I'm more worried about the opposite end of the table at the minute.

I agree he's got it badly wrong but he's got so much credit in the bank he's allowed a few cock ups however I think we've been a bit disrespectful to the competition and to the paying customers, Hedley for instance drove from Grimsby for this, maybe we'd have got another knock tonight but we'll have others back.

Last season a few people mentioned that Wootton didnt have a pre season so he wouldn't be as good (pre season is big) weve not had a good pre season and 5 players didn't play more than 15 miniutes of pre season For me, get players back fit and then mid table finish and maybe an fa cup run which isnt for another month and abit

If the players can’t play three games in a week in August then we’re done. f*ck me. We had the same last season before we had loads of injuries. Our mindset now is to just write this competition off. We’ve done it every year we’ve been back in the league. It stinks.

He's not just thinking about Blackpool. I’m sure he isn’t just thinking about Blackpool. But sending a bunch of kids out to get humiliated does no-one any good at all. Least of all the kids. Could have easily played some more senior players tonight. He’ll look a little bit silly if we lose at the weekend anyway. I won’t lose any sleep over this, it’s the league cup. But I don’t like the way we’ve approached it at all.
