He didn’t look like he was carrying anything until about 15 minutes in, and even then he was clearly fine to carry on. Stop looking for excuses for a poor performance from one of the players who should be doing better. The kids get a free pass, the senior pros don’t and that includes Ben who should have done better on a couple of moments. I could say the exact opposite. "Stop calling out a player who in his first game has been thrown an absolute hospital pass." It's just an opinion. You’re right it’s just an opinion, and in my opinion he should have done a lot better than he did. We have looked a lot better with Onyanga in the middle at the back and Camps in midfield. I am not making a long term judgement on him based on tonight, but he won’t be close to unseating Horsfall on this. He needs to be better.

40 minutes on the phone to Virgin. They haven't got a clue. They say equipment is all OK for the Service. They will send an engineer to look at it...... do you have the black remote with the yellow pause button? Yes. Is that good or bad?

Blackburn fans acting like they’re the shit for beating our kids. Genuinely should be embarrassed. Although at least they get to count how many goals they've got on a full hand. Poynton would have beaten those 15 year olds tonight. We should just be allowed in to the second round due to them embarrassing all professional footballers.

How is it? I'm not saying we'll go down, I'm saying it's more likely we'll finish in the bottom half than the top. Fair enough. By the opposite end I had assumed you meant that we’ll go down. For the record I would be incredibly surprised if we finished bottom half. Even if the injury trend continues.

By scheduling it if they wanted. The same way you train for a marathon. Simplifying it, you don't run 26 miles day 1 or 10 miles the first day then 10 the next. You gradually build up the workload. That's why they play 45 mins in the first preseason game, then 60, 75 / 90 etc. You'd need ten teams to agree to play you, I was actually talking about competitive matches. Pretty sure you could find 10 teams to play in the first 2 weeks of preseason. The point is that it would be a bad idea.

Their celebrations at the end… do they not realise they’re playing kids?

Good job it isn't humiliating Still wouldn't say so when you know the circumstances. For the casual observer, maybe. I'm not liking a minute of it (and am not there to soften the blow) but I think it was a tough but right call and the kids involved will benefit from it. Yep a thumping does wonders for confidence throughout the squad,we have got this wrong let's hope it doesn't filter through to Saturday, I get why we have done it but I don't agree.

Do you just choose to ignore the interviews/ fans forum where he clearly explained where we were in terms of fitness/ minutes in players…? It’s not rocket science that risking players who aren’t up to full speed (which is still a lot of the first team who played on Sat) with three games in a week would increase the likelihood of further injuries. We’ve done it every season since we got back in the league, this isn’t a one-off. We just treat it as a disposable thing and we’re clearly not arsed about it. I don’t agree that we’ve not given the cups a go. First season back we got knocked out on penalties in the league cup by premier league opp. In the FA cup we got to the third round and again had a massive injury crisis and only lost at the end of the game. We also beat Charlton in the second round! Last season we lost on pens at Weds - a team two leagues above us. We weakened for the Aldershot game but the focus had to solely be on the league last year. My main point was your comment about why players can’t do three games a week. We’ve got to be careful with their conditioning as has been pointed out!

For the record I would be incredibly surprised if we finished bottom half. Even if the injury trend continues. Really? We had about 8 injuries in 5/6 pre season games when players weren't even playing at full intensity and tackles weren't flying in (apart from Lewis Travis on Adaramola) we've played 2 collective games and Bate and Hughes have gone off injured while Mingi was hobbling and seemingly went off as a precaution. If we carry on at the current rate we won't have any players left!

I’d rather focus on the positive (being that we are trying to manage a situation best we can) than whinge about it. Tends to be less stressful Fair point. But this injury situation has been going on for the best part of 2 years now. You can’t just wish it away, unfortunately. The club said last season they don’t think they’re doing anything wrong to aggravate injuries. I’m not suggesting they’re lying, but do we have much confidence that is a good assessment? I don’t, and I say that bearing in mind the club has got almost everything right in the last few years. You don’t get 7 knee injuries in pre-season by accident. You don’t get the injury lists we’ve had over the course of not even months, but years, by accident. It cannot possibly just be bad luck, unless we are the unluckiest club ever to exist (which admittedly, might be the case). But on a serious note, it is a real concern. We can disagree about how it’s managed - clearly we do - but isn’t the bigger issue how to stop it happening on a mass scale again, and again, and again? Couldn't agree more. Absolutely not having that having 12 injuries after one league game is normal especially after the amount of injuries we had last season as well.

Yep and the starting XI for that Weds game, when we had nowhere near as many injuries, was: Hinchliffe Wright Horsfall Pye Richardson CLE Johnson Collar Touray Madden Tanto Subs that came on MSH, Barry, Knoyle, Sarcevic and Rydel. It really isn't comparable to tonight.
