We aren't going up or down next season, who do you keep from the current squad?
for me
Lordy
Jacobs Cowen Howard Moses Lofthouse Duxbury Dennis Jevons (got 1 more season in him I reckon) Turner (although I suspect he'll be snapped up) Platt
maybes: Dicko Fagbola Lees Churchman
bin the rest off
meaning we need a proper experienced keeper, couple of new defenders and a couple of wide men and a centre mid

I can't see Turner being here next season to be honest although I would love to be wrong!! Churchman looks good but it is early days. Dicko will have to be down to how much he will cost and I still think the jury is out.

keep: Jacobs Fagbola Dennis Jevons (if he wants another season, wouldnt mind him as a coach/player) Howard Lofthouse Duxbury Cowan Churchman (from what ive seen so far)
get rid(asap for some): O'Halloran Platt Charnock Moses Lees Craney Dicko Winsor Moke Bateman
Id love to keep turner but i think its unrealistic so try and get a bit of cash for him and i think there is still money up for grabs when it comes to ormson so with some cash from those two we should be able to get a decent part time squad.

Cowen, Howard, Turner, Jevons and Dennis look useful. We need to improve everywhere else. From what I've seen.

His set pieces are also dire. I like moses because i feel he tries hard and he puts his foot in but he is possibly the worst passing midfielder ive seen play for the club. I think if we have one or both of those playing for us in CM next year we dont have much chance of promotion which is what we need.

Platt's a good player, good on the ball and good vision, look at his pass for Turner's goal the other week, I agree he doesn't get stuck in a lot but he's a semi pro footballer, he's not going to have everything, and he can play in a few positions. Moses isn't great on the ball but he was part of the Hyde side that went up, but every team needs someone like him in, we can't have a midfield and not have someone to break up the play and put his foot in.

Platt has been very disappointing for me so far (although I didn't see Gainsborough away). It was noticeable in the home games over xmas how poor his passing is, regularly put us on the back foot messing up a simple pass. And his corners are woeful (although I note Dennis's second against Gainsborough came from a Platt corner, but I think that was more due to Dennis's goos movement than it being a decent corner, it only just beat the first man!
Moses is fine though as a player to break up play. He just needs to remember to keep it simple when he's done that and not try to get carried away with his passing.

Platt seems to have become target of the week for criticism of late, and I'm not really sure why. he's got a decent range of passing, looks comfortable on the ball and is a reasonably decent tackler. He's not the most consistent of players, but that's the reason he's at this level, rather than higher up. Much like Gossett earlier in the season, and Blizzard from the days when we were good, he's the sort of player you notice more when is he isn't playing than when he is.
Moses is the sort of player we need at this level. It's a shame he can't pass it more than 10 metres, but he breaks up the other team's play well enough for it not to matter. As we improve, I doubt he'll continue to play every week, but we definitely need him for the more physical opposition, particularly away from home.
Lofthouse and Churchman have both showed promise so far, but the last thing we need is to throw them in too early and ruin them as we have done with so many other midfielders over recent years.
I still feel we could do with a more creative type in the midfield, particularly one who was naturally minded to attack, and I thought Verma might be that player, but it never really happened. I wonder whether there is still any contact with Meaney, as he seems to fit the bill, albeit more on reputation than anything else, as I only saw him play for about 50 minutes in total...
