I do not think what goes on at Woodley has any bearing on events at EP. We should focus on our club and not concern ourselves with events elsewhere

I thought City were getting 'friendly' with Oldham recently? What use would a team at the bottom of the footballing pyramid be to a club owned by billionaires? That's what I was thinking. A football league club makes sense, so that they could loan players to them (like Spurs do with Swindon) but not a North West Counties team, as the style of play and culture doesn't match what City would be coaching. If we've survived 130 years in the shadow of the two Manchester clubs I'm confident we can cope with a new club being set up, as they won't have any great support. And besides if we go bust I wouldn't support Woodley/ Stockport Sports, so likewise I wouldn't support Stockport City.

Some questions then: 1) Is this team not more likely to be a replacement for Stockport Sports? 2) Why is it a problem if people like Vann and Clark are involved? 3) Why would City want a feeder team in the non-league? Some answers: 1) Yes 2) It isn't; 3) They wouldn't. In short, this probably has little or nothing to do with County. All IMHO.

I've heard we're playing at Hyde next season. I'll believe it when I see it.

People are actually taking this seriously? I could make a thread that United have offered 2m for Fagbola and some people would believe it.

You heard that too? I'd heard it was 1.8mil but McKnight negotiated them down to 5k and a snickers.

Looks like this has the full backing, they've taken a page out in today's Stockport Express. If anything this will have more effect on Cheadle Town than anyone else (with either County, Stockport Sports or the new Stockport City playing at home on the same day as Cheadle). Good luck to them, as long as it doesnt impact on County, Obv.

They've not really taken a page out, it's an article by Gavin Browne.

I hope they fail miserably, backed by those parasites that did nothing for us and they have the audacity to associate the name of the town with City when the only connection is that the town is full of them heading out of Stockport to watch that lot, fck 'em. C#nts!

It's a very strange move to me.
The quote in the Express about how County aren't viable (from Malcolm McPhail) is pretty negative too. He says he can sleep at night knowing he's done his best. Pfft.

There was a Stockport Football Club Limited set up by David Sullivan from Bowdon in November. Don't know if this is connected. Registered at Companies House.

Ah it will be, he runs a 'football academy' from stockport sports village with Rob Clare. What i dont get though is arent life leisure run by the council? If so, then... A) How can Stockport Council justify spending tax payers money on creating a new team to play in a borough that already has 4 non-league teams in it (and ive included us in that pfft). B) If the council have spare cash to inject into football, why arent they supporting those clubs already in existance?

I don't know I haven't read the article.
