Don't think they're too far off. If we drew today I wouldn't be complaining. Thought we did well today and I'm happy with the win but I'm not going to say we battered Telford. I thought they'd be a lot better than they were but the fact we scored 4 goals and that isn't the best we've played this season, and against an in form side, is a brilliant result.

Does that all make sense? It does to me. Makes perfect sense to me as well. I'll trust your maths but basically we've no realistic chance of making the playoffs this season. A top ten finish will be quite an achievement considering our start. You also have to bear in mind that we have played two more games than six teams and one more than another 10. we had no chance of winning today according to some (me included) so I wouldn't write off anything yet.

I'm not too fussed about where we finish in the league this season. We had a horrific start but now the rest of this season is just about finding our feet at this level and working out what changes need to be made to make a good go of it next year.
Seems stupid saying that when we're only a third of the way in to the season but the Play Offs/Promotion are a step too far at the minute.

I wouldn't write the playoffs off just yet, if we can off load Crainey and Hand and bring in some half decent replacements there's no reason why we can't improve that points average. The team that started today could beat anyone in this league on their day. If we could just keep them all injury free for a run of games I could see us going on a decent run.

The maths make sense although it doesn't account for our steady improvement. We've gone from getting 1 point in 5 games (0.25 points per game on averag) to 1.66 points a game.
Who's to say we won't up our average to over 2 points a game as we continue to gel?

And over 2 points per game suggests that you would have to count the losses on the fingers of one hand. Nothing's impossible but highly unlikely. Mind you I would love to be wrong!

I think we'll finish 9th or something.
But I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see us sneak into the playoffs.

I was impressed with Jones. Hopefully he'll improve his woeful kicking as he gets fitter. Lord commented on how it was good to have someone vocal. A tad harsh! I don't think the gale force wind and driving rain he was kicking into in the second half helped matters. Ormson may well have lost the No.1 shirt for quite a while, which is not such a bad thing, IMHO.

His kicking was patchy at best. The rest of his work was decent though. I agree, having now seen him I'm happy for him to fill Ormson's shoes for a while.

kicking in that weather can't have been the easiest.
He was 'lucky' in the sense that most of the shots went straight at him, meaning with the obvious exception of the penalty, he wasn't really tested.
I'd still keep him in for the next game though, the defence looked far more confident than usual today.

Telford's manager was interviewed on Pure after the game and he was the same. Blamed performances of individuals for each goal, blamed the penalty taker for having it saved, blamed his strikers for not finishing chances, blamed Tunnicliffe's marker for not tracking him. Can't put my finger on why but I'm not fond of Telford. Nor me: "How do you lose to Stockport? I mean really come on. They are woeful." - from their forum. Yeah but 4-2 - so erm up yours Telford.

Who the f*ck are they to be talking us down? Typical small town midlands divs.

Comments like that really wind me up. We're in the worst position the club has ever been in but for a nothing club like Telford to say something like that sums up how far we've fallen.
The thing I'm looking forward to most about climbing the leagues (providing we do) is giving all the clubs who have mocked us and laughed at our demise the biggest amount of shit imaginable.

I've been cringing for a while at the constant talking up of our fanbase since we dropped, especially by the club. Looks desperate and insecure. I've always thought a bit of humility might be better.
But to be honest, if we manage to become good again, I'm going to be a right dick. Who cares what fans of nothing clubs like Tamworth think of us? I've tried being all nice and reasonable but it's football, it doesn't work.

I really hate the way that Keith Coates interviews some of the opposition managers as though he's an impartial commentator rather than someone who is supposed to be focused on County.....and he really grates when he refers to us as "Stockport" rather than County !
