Well unfortunately we did gift Salford three points after all, which may prove hard to catch come the end of the season. With us not able to call upon, Clarke, O'Halloran, Stopforth, Etches, McKenna and Thomas. Jim had to register Tom Whitty from the Development Squad to make up the bench.
We should have strengthened with more signings during the summer and I fee l that we would have had at least eight points now. Draws were achievable at both Spennymoor and Salford and we could have beaten Harrogate had we had strength in depth.
A striker and another midfielder were signings that should have been made to complete our squad, but after four games, I have the feeling that we need two strikers as cover to come off the bench, a couple more midfield player, a pacy winger and a utility defender.
Jim has to get active in the loan market as most of the decent available players have already been picked up by other clubs. He mentions that there isn't much in the way of finances, then if we haven't got the quality in our development squad to promote enough players he must work on finding some good players from the lower league who can come in to the fold, learn from him and step up when needed. We need strength in depth to cover for injuries. If we had had Clarke and O'Halloran fit I feel we would have got something from last nights game. Oh for Montrose and Lloyd now, well they've both gone and we move on, but for if onlys.

My shopping list:
1. A Ferrari. 2. A speedboat. 3. A bottle of Merlot.
I think I'll skip 1 and 2 due to economics but I'll enjoy the wine.

Another influential signing by Jim and Tom O looks an exciting prospect, especially as he nearly scored with hs first touch. If Jim could now bring in a similar promising goalscorer, especially with the possible injury to JO, we would have the most exciting squad we have had in years.

Well where was the firepower today? 11 corners and we created nothing from them. Thank you Jim for, finding Oswell, but he was sadly missed today and as said before we wasted the close season by not signing more strikers for our sguad. Warburton and West are the only compliment for JO and it is clear that GW is not yet ready hence the dual registration with Atherton Colleries and MW needs to improve a lot. Ok we had several players out injured, but this squad is clearly not strong enough and needs improving before it is too late.
What is needed I think is well known for all the fans to see. A quality centre back with pace, A quality midfielder to dictate play and two more, yes two more strikers, baring in mind that JO either could pick up a long term injury, or we may lose him at the beginning of the new year.
We need strength in depth if we are to challenge for promotion and I feel we have already thrown away 11 points already. Sadly 16 draws last season shows our squad was not strong enough with 32 points lost from those games and all we needed was one more point and we just might now have been a full time outfit in a higher division.
It is now time to sort this out as I believe we need 24 to 26 players in the squad for backup in times like these especially as Jim is reluctant to use the loan market to good effect.

Same old story sadly, squad just not strong enough to cope with a few out injured.

In Jims search for another quality striker, I wonder if he has had a good look at the squad he has at the moment in training. I saw something in the last game, that when Minihan gets into the box he looks quite good as he does elsewhere and really took his goal well at Tamworth. May be the fox in the box player we are looking for, to play off JO. Interesting

Disappointing again today and this clearly shows the team needs strengthening. How long will it take to get another quality striker to either start with Oswell or to come off the bench. I know it is early doors and we are only 9 points from the top but I feel that we have already lost 13 points so far. Need to strengthen with one or two to give our players a lift and make competition more fearce. Also to give us a better chance of a win on Tuesday against a team above us and one we have a poor past record against. A win on Tuesday is a must so it is time to strengthen now especially as Gannon target means we should have 16 points now. Jim mentions we have part-time averageness but most have been signed by Jim. I believe that he will sort out the problem, but will need the directors help to allow Jim to strengthen the squad. Believe me there are quality players who have good jobs and don't want a full time commitment on less money. It's up to Jim and the club to bring in those players starting with a new striker, to take the pressure off Oswells shoulders. Time to act, so with Felgate and Flynny leaving us, perhaps there might be a Man U or Dale youngster or two on the way? Eliott Osborne has looked impressive in his last two games for Morecambe, how I would have loved to see him back in a County Shirt but there are plenty of others out there to find. As Felgate also runs a goalkeeping school, perhaps his partner Danny Hurst will fill his boots. www.hgujfc.co.uk/news/we-are-pleased-to-annouce-the-felgate-and-hurst-go-1607155.html Maybe a certain gentleman such as Peter Ward will replace Flynny. Interesting to see what develops now.

Wow, what a performance tonight. Plenty of firepower too but still needed another striker on the bench especially as Warburton and Oswell our two, two goal heros where substituted. The words Magnificent and Outstanding come to mind. Well done JG for playing two upfront.

Ten games gone and only averaging 1.4 points a game and Jims target is an average of 2 points a game. Clearly not good enough and shows we need strengthening further.
Jim also said that we have some passengers in the team by default, but with players returning from injury and potential signings they'll be out. Not just out of the side but potentially out of the club.
I personally don't want to see any of our players leave as we have good potential and those underperforming will settle into the squad as the season progresses, but I do feel we need another striker for the bench to keep Oswell and Warburton on their toes and another central midfielder who can play the defensive role and fill in at centre back when needed.

The signing of Bohan Dixon, who turned us down in the close season, in my opinion does not better what we have already. Having played with Jim before at Northwich, perhaps he sees something he can add to Bohans game. I am not sure but hope I am proved wrong. I would have preferred another striker someone like Liam Hardy already with eleven so far.

We are losing ground in the promotion race and sincerely hope Jim brings in a quality striker before this weekend. We have to win to start a cup run to give the club some extra revenue like last season.

Jim now has a massive problem. One most mangers would like. With the injured players returning to full fitness apart from Sammy, he will have a headache over selection. Oswell has proved he is a consistant scorer but wouldn't it be nice if we had another in the team.

It would be nice, I'm still hoping Warburton can bang a few more in though.

Sorry to keep banging on about this, but to not win a game with a 3-0 lead shows that one element for our squad is critically needed. A back up striker. Having to put a young lad on the bench yesterday wa suicidal and this missing link comes back to bite at Jim, week in, week out. I am not the only one who sees this weakness and we need it sorting.

Having to put a young lad on the bench yesterday wa suicidal and this missing link comes back to bite at Jim, week in, week out. I am not the only one who sees this weakness and we need it sorting. I have been saying it since the pre season friendlies that we need another proven striker yet nothing has been done! Oswell is clearly central to the managers system yet no cover for him, niave to think Oswell won't pick up injuries and/or suspensions over the season. So no striker cover yet dozens of midfielders and 'number 10's' Look at Tom Greaves that came on for FC United yesterday, he's just signed a dual registration with Ramsbottom to get more game time, he's better than what County have to replace Oswell coming off the bench. The squad is completely unbalanced IMO and yesterday highlighted that.
