I am all for replicating the facade...Sockport county AFC even the front wall you could use a blue glazed brick to replicate that part but come on guys its had its day ... no matter how much paint you put on it still looks tired and i am sorry to say you cant polish an old tu%D Ban this heathen! I think Mr. 3330 needs to be sent to a re-education camp! a two week stint at home with the leader of the peoples republic of Stockport (A Mr. D.Jacket) should do it!

The main stand façade is unique. It’s a proper piece of English football heritage. It ought to be listed IMO. I wish they’d get rid of those shitty main doors though.. looks awful.

The doors and those nasty upvc windows that were probably Kennedys only efforts at upgrading the ground all need to go to be replaced by something more in keeping with the facade.

Wooden framed windows that need treating every year? Know what you mean with the upvc stuff, but nowadays its easy to have a different colour than white, so maybe that could be on the 'to do list', but guess it's well down the list of priorities.

Nice glasswork could be good.

The old original one's were in a bit of bad shape. But what he replaced them with is truly awful. The doorway/entrance could be sorted out. Am I right in thinking that cool old original ticket office/secretary window as you go through the door is gone now too?

Like i said the facade is stockpot county.... the rest looks tired it needs more than a lick of paint every couple of years The Stockport County AFC must be kept or replicated into any new or improved stand thats all i was saying Believe it or not i have an emotional attachment to that facard as well If the main stand were to be replaced I would preserve the Stockport County AFC sign and install it as conspicuously as possible on an internal wall in a concourse or some such area- the way clubs like Arsenal and others displayed the old B17 class locomotive nameplate for their club. Example:
I know some regard demolition of historical stands as sheer wanton vandalism but I can't see how and old stand will blend in with new structures. The key is that these structures are not IKEA/B and Q dross but a sincere attempt to construct an aesthetically attractive but practical ground. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the owner's intent.
I can hear some of you gathering stones!

surely an exact copy of the Stockport County AFC could be incorporatrd into the frontage of a new main stand.

I can hear some of you gathering stones! With regards to the Main Stand it's more simple than most think. Although it may cost a little more than completely rebuilding the entire main stand side it could still be tastefully done. Extend the brick front along the full length of the pitch either side of the current main stand structure using a similar brick type. We could also incorporate more modern facilities for the players and have extra room for other amenities that would go missing if the other buildings are demolished such as indoor catering/bars & toilets. The club can go about this the right way and I'm sure Mark Stott already knows this 👍

You could move many, if not all, of the current Main stand functions to the new Railway end. Such as the security office, dressing rooms, etc. There'd be a load of room in the corner, where the current bungalow is... flatten those intrusive modern buildings at each end of the stand, add an extra bay to both ends and a new roof, and you've got a stand with at least 1000 more seats, with good legroom and better facilities "below decks" for fans, while retaining some tradition and heritage. Job done!
Just need to think outside the box a bit.

That would inevitably have to be part of the redevelopment plan - access points round the back of the Railway End and the Pop Side. Would probably have to involve a redesign of the entry points to the Cheadle End too. All achievable I think. The question of how big it needs to be is a good one. I don't think it'd be outlandish to make c.11,000 to c.15-16,000. It'd give us scope for growth without being too ridiculous. Worth remembering that in normal times, our crowds now in the National League are healthier than the end of our Football League days, and I'm sure that if we rise up the leagues, that will grow. Lincoln City were getting smaller attendances than us 6-7 years ago, and until the pause, they were routinely getting 9,000. We may also see an attendance boom when normal times return. That's speculation, but it's worth keeping an eye on to measure how big our potential is. As heartless as it sounds, the demise of Macc may also mean our sphere of influence in a southerly direction gets a little larger than it would otherwise have been.

Not really! The entry and exits for a redeveloped Railway end (and obviously the Pop side too) don't need to be on Hardcastle Road... it would surely make more sense to put them behind the Railway end? And like I said, you'd be surprised just how much space is taken up by the relatively modern buildings on the Main stand side... which on on account of their design actually block views of the pitch towards the Cheadle end of the stand. These buildings are poorly designed and inappropriate and should go!
