It's well documented that Iran have no interest in full scale war. It's a show of force to save face which will be shot down by Israel. The real concern is what Netanyahu does next - he's not exactly in a strong position himself.

It's well documented that Iran have no interest in full scale war. It's a show of force to save face which will be shot down by Israel. The real concern is what Netanyahu does next - he's not exactly in a strong position himself. I've been following this on Twitter, Iran has apparently launched 3 waves of drones and cruise missiles, some sources are reporting a wave from Yemen too, but it's reckoned there are 150 or so drones/missiles heading towards Israel through Iraqi, Syrian and Jordanian airspace. Jordan has called a state of emergency, bomb shelters have opened in Israel, and the Israeli government has advised that anyone with relatives in Iran should advise them to take shelter and stock up on water and medication. There's reports of Israeli aircraft shooting down drones over Syrian and Jordanian airspace (not sure if that is the drones or the Israeli jets) with Iron Dome and other air defence systems on high alert. And before a.drone has reached Israel, there's been a huge explosion in Tehran. Airspace around the region is closed to passenger flights and there are US air tankers in the air with apparently an RAF Voyager circling around the Cyprus area too. I'm not sure interesting is the right word for what is going on or may happen as a result?

IKR? Just one night to enjoy promotion would have been nice… Absolutely. This world can be a depressing place.

Not good news for Palestine, though, as it’s silenced any doubting voices among Israel’s allies, not to mention the distraction it’s provided

GM Police are investigating Angela Raynor even though she can't be charged with anything this long after the event, therefore the police are taking part in a political smear campaign prompted by a tory MP who couldn't even say which law she may or may not have broke, it's just fortunate that GMP have so little crime to deal with.

I think it's less about a diversion in the normal sense and more about trying to create a narrative of 'All politicians are on the take'. Which isn't true, but allows them to pretend milking the taxpayer in various ways for their own ends is entirely reasonable and normal.
Getting Lord Ashcroft to front it shows astounding chutzpah. Like they're not even bothered that they know someone's obviously going to say 'Yeah, but what YOUR tax situation?'

All these people doing vox pops today about the drop in inflation expressing surprise that prices are still going up… To be expected amongst this badly educated and ill-informed country when the smiling tool that is our PM tells them that a drop from 10% to 5% (for example) is a marvellous outcome whilst gurning like a f*cking imbecile. In my experience it needs diagrams and even then 50% of the morons on Social Media, deny the reality, or simply say "woke", "boats", "lefties" and other drivel.

It's like trying to explain to people how progressive taxes work. Remember someone telling me he had refused a pay rise because he'd end up with less money as it took him into the higher rate tax band... He would not have it that he'd be getting more money.

Remember someone telling me he had refused a pay rise because he'd end up with less money as it took him into the higher rate tax band... He would not have it that he'd be getting more money. there were (possibly still are?) a couple of very specific cases where that happens, all to do with how things interact with child benefit / NI and a couple of other schemes. Can’t remember the exact figures, but the particularly egregious one was something like a single parent was better off either earning £49999 or over £53k due to the way the thresholds for child benefit worked, with figures in between the two pretty marginal in terms of actual take home. There was also a much bigger issue for people earning between £100k - £125k, but far less sympathy for people at that level as you might expect. most workers could get around this by some sort of pension / salary sacrifice shenanigans, but some workplaces weren’t set up to deal with that sort of thing.
