Yep he’s repeatedly said that he will have a mixed profile of players. Those who have been there and done it and those who can grow as the club grows. It’s the ideal set up and he’s the ideal person to implement it. So far, the only ‘can grow’ players we have are Minihan, Thomas, Keane & Bell. We’ve then lost our biggest ‘can grow’ asset with Festus now at Hull. Could well be a case of making sure we get the marquee players first, and looking at the younger ones later, but right now, I think Kitching in the only one who isn’t at least late 20s. Hope you're doing well mate and you and the family are keeping safe? Agree with your post but Jim did state last week that the squad will have the balance of developing younger players mixed with experience. I don't doubt for a minute that it will happen.

Jim did mention breaking the squad into three groups the other day - County stalwarts, established newcomers and ones we can develop. Wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple of other younger arrivals as well as Kitching at some point to fit into the last category. I guess you could include Bell and perhaps Curran ib that group too.

Yes all good thanks pal - down in the South East now!! Could well be the case. I have no idea how the plan is to be executed but I do not doubt Jim will deliver that type of squad.

Similar age to the four I mention above then I think? definitely a bit different from Pilkington/ Rowe / Mainwaring etc. playing at more like 20 and still older than Ash Williams when he left... right now, the words and actions aren’t matching, but there’s obviously still loads of time for that to change before the season starts, and I hope it does.

I also hope our spending is, at its core, sensible. This is my one big concern at the moment - that we spend well outside our means and are left with the problems down the line that we might not recover from again. Certainly exciting times at the moment, but longer term we will just have to see...

I’ve never heard Gannon say young players that can develop. I’ve heard “Established players that can grow with us” which for me I read as in the 22-26 category who have experience at this level and with improvement make the step up.

Really good signing there were 3 names i know for a fact would have been here last summer if the takeover hadn't took forever to go through those 3 were, John Rooney, Richie Bennett and the last one was Jordan Williams we now have 2 of those 3 This isnt meant as a negative as these experienced players are probably whats required to get out of this devilishly difficult league its certainly a lot harder than league 2, but slight worry in the medium to long term that the profile of our squad is largely 28-31 year olds so there is no real resale value in these players which is fine if we are in a position to foot the bill and accept that when giving 3yr contracts out these players, but I would like to see a few more in 21-24 bracket that can come in ready to do a job and potentially be a more saleable asset in terms of a sustainable model Sack Jim, get rid of the owners, this one knows his stuff 😁

It looks very much like we're signing players for now and the next couple of years, in one way it's quite good to have a bunch of 30 year olds as we're not likely to lose them to higher clubs and they'll give us time to plan ahead.
