Really can't see how anyone is to blame for this. It seems to me that the only reason cases fell away was because of a stringent lockdown. Open everything up and it will come back. It's a tricky one this. Imagine there is no vaccine, as there isn't for the common cold, would we have to stay in a stringent lockdown forever?. I fear we all have to accept that life has become a bit riskier now, but if you are afraid of dying then you must want to live, and being in constant isolation and lockdown is not living. My generation (61) is one of the luckiest. We've never been asked to storm a beach in Normandy, never had to go over the top at the Somme etc etc. Unfortunately I think this is just something we have to live with but ensure we get the most enjoyment out of living while we still can. Until we find a vaccine.people will have to get used to the new normal.winter will probably bring another splke

You blamed this action, which has been taken across the entirety of Greater Manchester as a whole as well as other areas, on 18-25 year olds in Stockport on your first post in this thread. The action taken isn't specific to Stockport nor is it directly attributed to the issue the council highlighted. Had it been specifically Stockport then you might have had an argument for blame, but there's nothing that even suggests that the council-highlighted issue played even a small role in the decision; moreso when you consider a Tory MP earlier actually blamed BAME communities for the new restrictions. I mentioned the wider region because that’s how it was announced but I also pecifically said “those who drove this in Stockport” but you continue to interpret to fit your own agenda. Not at all, as I said in my last post, there is no evidence to suggest that the rise in cases amongst 18-25 year olds in Stockport had any influence on the decision to bring in new restrictions. Like I said, a Tory MP said it was BAME communities earlier.

We will get spikes and if immunity once you have had it is non-existent/short-lived then there we won’t be out of semi-lockdown until a vaccine/cure is founded widely distributed.
I am now pessimistic again about having crowds of any size back in grounds next season.

I'm pessimistic about the season starting at all now, never mind with any sort of crowds. Even if it does start i can see it being littered with postponements if regions are going in & out of localised lockdowns.

Haphazard, poorly planned, chaos. We are so poorly served by this government. It isn’t right or left. It isn’t party political. It is lack of competence. ------------------ This coronavirus disease is an infection brought about by a new virus. People can catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person infected with the virus. These droplets can land on objects and surfaces around the person such as tables, doorknobs and handrails. People can become infected by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. Therefore, it is impossible to expect any government to have the ability to control what the whole population does. Chris Whitty spoke today on lockdown easing: "We have probably reached near the limit of what we can do". He emphasised how much it was down to individuals to take control of their own activities and that would be a pertinent condition on how the disease can be controlled or spread further. It is absolute nonsense to bring politics into this; and you have done so despite your protestations in your post.

Politicians are making political decisions to do with coronavirus, they're also looking to advance themselves personally, that's inevitable

That's such bollocks from them though, isn't it? A complete abandonment of leadership and responsibility to sort the problem out. They've dealt with this horribly from the very beginning and they're looking to shift blame and, by the sounds of some on here, they're succeeding.

Politics aside, mixing with people outside your immediate family, indoors, is one of the most common sense things not to do, it’s the only thing I’ve stringently stuck to throughout this whole thing. If any government told me it was ok I’d say nah, I’ll leave it thanks.

And the guy at the top coveted the job sooo badly - yet now he's got it, and all the trappings, he's happy to let his unelected minion run the show whilst he sits on his lazy fat arse trying to remember how many children he's got. Oh, and on the wider point - Tories always want to blame someone. It's how they operate. World banking crisis - Labour spent too much. Economic hardship - immigrants and welfare claimants. Covid spike - youngsters going out and doing exactly what we encouraged them to do. They're scum, and anyone who helped vote them in needs to own it. A-f*cking-hem
