Leslie Thompson & Yoann Smith from around 2008 could sneak into an obscure 11 I reckon. Denied, too well known. Adam Nowland and Smith are possibly the most obscure from 07/08 but generally everyone from that team is too well known. [br I call VAR. How many games did they play for us? They both played less games than Adam Nowland surely.

Yep, 2-2 draw in Feb 2005. He had two spells with us and was dire in both. Not having him as an obscure player though, he's a go-to for comedy teams of the mid-2000s. Gavin Strachan, Tony Vaughan or Daryl Smilie, I'd accept. Is Mark Hughes obscure enough? No, he scored at Bristol Rovers. Although I don't think it was actually credited to him, but sure his header was deflected in or something.

Very common with anyone under 5 appearances. As I say, I find those with 8-12 appearances are often more forgettable.

Marvellous Marvin Robinson and Joe Dolan. Joe Dolan scored a header at the Cheadle End against someone like Bournemouth, I think. A guy at worked played with Vaughan in a charity golf day or something and I'd totally forgot he'd played for County

Can I contribute a player who came on loan but didn’t make an appearance, that I can remember?
Jack Saville.

Can I contribute a player who came on loan but didn’t make an appearance, that I can remember? Jack Saville. And Ryan Alsop, a keeper on the bench 6 times in the 2010/11 relegation season. On loan from WBA. Made a decent career for himself since at a fair few clubs.

My initial reply was to CB1883 who stated that he ‘Didn’t think he [Jaros] was that impressive for us’; so that suggests that there is at least one who didn’t rate him (and he’s not alone). If you think that Jaros will probably have a better career than Ben, then why not here, and that’s why we should be looking at him. Why would he want to come back here when he’s been at Sturm Graz and playing European football? Me saying I didn’t think he was that impressive is hardly slagging him off. He was not a stand out keeper from what I saw. We’ve had far more memorable loan goalkeepers in the past. Who went on to play for Sturm Graz and play European football ? This place at its most absurd!

You wouldn't consider Brad Jones to have had a memorable loan spell here, yet he went on to win the Dutch league and play Champions League football, whereas Conrad Logan had a much more memorable spell here yet never achieved the same level as success as Jaros/Jones did. It's possible to acknowledge that Jaros' spell here was lacklustre/unmemorable and also that he went on to better things. They aren't mutually exclusive.

To be fair, he did win the Scottish Cup with Hibs (and featured in one of the best videos of crowd singing ever recorded).

It's not league title and Champions League level though and that's my point; Logan, as an example, had a much more memorable spell here than Jaros and yet achieved less than Jaros has. Both can be true.

But in terms of quality/ career he’d probably only just make the top 10 that I’ve seen in the last 30 years.

But that doesn’t make his spell with us more memorable or impressive.
