I hate to say it but Bell just doesnt look good enough for this squad, wish he was but he just isn't I'm just glad he scored his penalty, as its kept this place a little bit quieter tonight. Fair play to Croasdale for taking one too, with his first shot for County after being on the pitch for just a few minutes.

I thought Keane outplayed Maynard today, and feel the two holding midfielders has worked well when we’ve had two proper wingbacks.
Just hope one of the naturally left sided players is back for Tuesday, as Thomas really looked like someone playing out of position today. A really good job in terms of effort levels as usual from him, but the natural balance of the side was missing, meaning we were either one dimensional route 1 stuff to Bennett which their defenders lapped up, or trying to breakdown the right, where they always had the extra covering man knowing they could ignore the other flank.
Still, as others have said, this isn’t a year where we might get to go to a third round game at Anfield or similar, so I can’t bring myself to be too dejected.

His effort was awful to be honest, at least he didnt miss the decisive one.

It's worked well away from home...but the three home games ?

No i wouldn't have him down as a penalty taker, but he was still further up the pecking order than Thomas and Maynard, and he did score. Strange to see Minihan above those 2 players I've mentioned. I also think Hinchliffe took the best one, as he just blasted it like he was clearing the ball with an oncoming forward running towards him... JK and Chris Ridgeway were talking about this at the final whistle, and they predicted it right

Next 4-5 weeks be better gauge of where we are at with Solihull, Notts County and Hartlepool in that period, we've naturally had a good start but i feel we are still a fair bit off where we need to be in terms of performance, I expect we will improve and get better as its a trait we are used to seeing with Gannon's teams
The lack of clean sheets is a worry as we've allowed plenty soft goals conceded creep into our games
I'd say we've shown patches of what we may be capable of thus far without putting that one complete peroformance together to say we are the real deal, tuesday would be a good time rectify that
I hope we aren't getting too carried away as though Torquay are up their at min i see them finishing 9t/10th material, Halifax were well drilled and in a similar bracket, Dover were absolute fodder and Chesterfield and Wealdstone look like teams finish anywhere lower mid table downwards so i think we've had a gentle introduction fixtures wise
I think we will have no issues finishing at worst top 5 but i'd want to start seeing that complete performance that makes think we are the side to beat

Gannon and Hogan arguing constantly, not a great look When we are winning then it's going to be a great contrast, however when we lose or have issues like we did at Torquay then it's going to be highlighted as a clash of personalities/styles or whatever. Pretty sure Jim seemed to have the odd word with Turnbull quite a few times and that worked out ok.

Hogan is a talented player, but has a tendency to concedes cheap free kicks and he seems to be a bit of a mouthy dick

Would like to see him given a chance over the next few weeks to see what he’s capable of. Agree with what others have said, especially defensively. We’ve had a good start but there have been plenty of warning signs about what’s missing in our play. We need to tighten up at the back and be more clinical.

Roy Keane(also a captain) would fit that description, and he was a serial winner, yet also a liability too. I kinda like that in a player(but would only like 1 in a squad!!!)

Feel sorry for Minihan. It was a poor game overall. He takes very little of the blame. Someone has to miss one unfortunately. He wasn't the only County player to miss a penalty today, but he will be remembered for missing that last one. (Btw, just incase anyone misinterprets what i meant, then I don't mean that his County career will be remembered for that miss, just simply this game)

It’s a poor penalty from Minihan, but I wouldn’t expect him to be taking penalties anyway. It’s the collective failure to do enough over 90 minutes that matters more than the penalties.

Tbf to Sam, along with Ben he's probably the player least likely to get stick for missing the decisive penalty. He's done more than enough to be allowed this. In the long run he might have done us a favour. I'd even lose the first Trophy match if it means in 39 league games we have that League Title 😬
