I know its a different story, but some good posts from our friends at Atedaysaweek on social media. It was haunting leaving site last night that only us, Produce Hall and Spoons had been open. It isn't a nice sight to see at all. Just trying to do our bit to help out even though we've got our hands tied with what we can do mostly. If I can help make a few families lives easier, I'll do that any day of the week. I went to Remedy when it was the middle of the Burnham negotiations, and depressing doesn't even cover it. Two tables of people in there, and the la flies only have two lagers and a cider on because he didn't want to buy more stock in when he might be about to be shut down. This whole thing is a f*cking shitshow. Rules dreamed up seemingly at random, leaked to the nationals then retracted, nothing that ties in with the data being reported, and not enough support (until London is affected anyway). And with every new rule, the infection rate seems to go up. I dread to think what they'll come up with next.

Last time I went in (August bank hol) they only had cider on tap. Last couple of times before that it was full of chavs dancing to shite music. Avoided it since. Can't really beat Petersgate tap for beer in that area, but the Stockport crown will always belong to the magnet for me.

We left after one drink and quickly headed over to Petersgate Tap, and yes I agree that was loads better.

It truly is pathetic and farcical the way the Torys are treating the North and the hospitality trade. I live in Edgeley and if I got on the 199 bus I could be on High Lane, 4 miles away drinking to my hearts content. I honestly think the only reason they made London tier 2 was to give good reason to put virtually the whole of the north in tier 3. The Tories tried their level best to destroy the North in the 80s and they are still doing it today.

Very sad. Had a cracking afternoon out round the market on bank holiday Sunday, did the Petersgate tap, Cracked actor, ate days a week, project 53, & the produce hall. Not a cheap day by any means but enjoyed the diversity the ale & the food & the atmosphere was good too, none of the chavvy crowd just people enjoying a relaxing drink & a bite to eat. After years in the doldrums i was really excited by what was on offer in our home town, I really hope these businesses get the help they need during these difficult times & manage to survive otherwise it's back to square one for the market place. Yes, there seems to be a different type of person frequenting the Market area, much more of a convivial atmosphere, slightly more bohemian.

Get what you're saying but you'd have to go a little bit further up the road for that as High lane should now be in tier 3, although i went up there to watch the Chesterfield league game whilst still in tier 2 & it did seem a little more lax than other areas in the borough. New mills is still in tier 1 though so another mile or so & your statement is correct worlcupwillie. Not sure what Disley falls into as when i lived there briefly years ago i'm sure it came under Macclesfied/Cheshire East council which i think is still tier 2? All so bloody confusing what you can & can't do in such a small radius!

I was out in Chorlton yesterday and it was reasonably successful, better than I was expecting it to be.
Went to Brewski, fully intending to eat, and they were fairly relaxed. Did say there was a 1.5 hour limit on tables inside but at the end of that were able to sit outside (in a covered heated area) for as long as we wanted as long as we were considering dessert, just needed to make sure we had a menu with us. So that worked quite well, ended up staying there for 4/5 hours.
I must say, just about the only good thing to come out of this whole miserable shitshow is table service in pubs. Big fan of that and hope it remains.

Agree with table service Sue. The first time I had it in The Angel, I thought this is the future now!

Agree with table service Sue. The first time I had it in The Angel, I thought this is the future now! At the same time, also the past... if you look at all the old pubs in town with the bells for table service. Pev, Brit, Circus, Castle off the top of my head... sure there's loads more!

Agree with table service Sue. The first time I had it in The Angel, I thought this is the future now! could end up being one of the things that actually become permanent once things get back to normal. usually some temporary measures end up with us for life. at least sat down i might not be as invisable as i am at bars. 6ft 1 inch aint big enough in pubs.

Strange the right wing loons have hijacked the term to use it as something derogatory. on the subject, there is a woman in Adswood doing superb voluntary work organising donations of food and distribution of food packs for the poorest in our community. Obviously she has had lots of people rolling up at her house dropping off food and picking up food packs to deliver to those that need them. A neighbour called the police because she was ‘flouting regulations’. Police took one look and did one. Good on them.
