on the subject, there is a woman in Adswood doing superb voluntary work organising donations of food and distribution of food packs for the poorest in our community. Obviously she has had lots of people rolling up at her house dropping off food and picking up food packs to deliver to those that need them. A neighbour called the police because she was ‘flouting regulations’. Police took one look and did one. Good on them. waiting for the day that someone like her takes a private prosecution out against their neighbour who does not follow strictly to the line and see what the outcome actually is.

Police were down our street the other night. One of our neighbours had some family staying over, who I assume are in their bubble, and some busybody Tory rang the police. They were sat watching telly and a TAU van turned up, six coppers piled out and hammered on the door then went in and searched the house.
Spoke to the neighbours in question a few days later and they said somebody had complained they were having a party. The police made them sit in one room while they went and searched the house and garden for people.
I totally understand the police don't know what they're dealing with until they arrive, but it'd be very obvious just by pulling up outside there wasn't a party going on so it's not really necessary for them all to pile in.
But that's the world we live in now, neighbours reporting each other for nothing. As I've said before, we're a nasty horrible little country and most people wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire as long as they're ok.

That's disgusting behaviour, when someone tried to break into put house last year I spoke to the coppers, had cctv footage with faces and they weren't remotely interested yet they turn up mob handed for something like that.

Yep, well OTT. As I say, good on the police for responding to the report and if they're told a party is going on they have to respond ready to deal with that. A knock from one copper, while the others are in the van, and a 'do you mind if we have a word?' is very different from wading in and causing a scene when there's obviously nothing to break up. I doubt I'd even bother reporting an attempted break in now, everyone it happens to says nothing happens. We don't bother with a lock on our shed any more as it got cut off that many times, we just leave it open every night. There's nothing in there worth nicking so pointless paying out for new locks that are broken with a couple of weeks. Keep meaning to get one of those Ring cameras installed at the back as I bet there's activity out there more often than not as we've got an alleyway down the back of ours.

Let’s hope this is just a silly outlier and not the new norm.

Are the police allowed into a property without a search warrant?

Don't know if the new powers allow that or if the people up our road invited them in to have a look, but he definitely said they went round every room looking.

Are the police allowed into a property without a search warrant? doubt they,d need one entering a house if a serious crime was being committed . the crime being committed there was akin to speeding at 2am in the morning.

think the whole police thing is down to soft and hard targets. the last 20 odd years have seen em a lot more interested in the soft ones where they are less likely to get hassle than a robbery where there is a possibility of violance. do think the police get less respect from the general public as the years go by. they need help from the public but tales like this will only alianate them from many apart from the new breed of curtain twitcher that has been born. no matter what anyone thinks of last saturdays protesters, the BLM and Extinction rebellion themselves it certainly was policed differently. I watched a comedy police chase on our estate (Offy) last week, a gang of youths, couple on mopeds, couple on bikes, rest on foot goading quite a few police who were on foot, the lads on bikes kept stopping & goading the police to chase them then riding off, the thing that struck me was that all the police officers were quite young but absolutely useless at running mainly due to all the gear they have attached to their vests nowadays, every copper that went by was running along trying to hold on to their radios, torches, sprays & whatever else they had on them & none of them seemed to be able to hit a full sprint because of it, even the youths on foot were stopping & laughing at them! Bit different to when i was a kid when the coppers would throw their jackets off & give it full pelt until they caught you then give you a couple of wallops!

I've unfortunately had to have the police around mine a few times recently, and each time I've thought how young they are and how they don't look as if they could handle an aggressive person if needed. The ladies especially have all been tiny. I suppose policing is more softly softly than it was. And also they used to say you could tell you were getting old when the police looked younger.
