Considering one of the few things we know about how Wilson ended up as DoF is that he was originally appointed to do due diligence on the purchase, it’s almost as though you’re suggesting Wilson either did a bad job on the DD and didn’t know what Gannon was actually like, or offered him a contract he knew he couldn’t abide by because he was scared of letting him go with unfinished business hanging over him? A more boring (and therefore more likely) scenario is that they were aware of his history but gave him a fair chance to adapt and commit to working under the new conditions so were confident enough to offer a new contract. Then things broke down. It’s certainly the explanation that throws the least shade on Wilson. Doesn’t explain how soon Rusk’s name was in the frame after Gannon’s departure was announced, though (a little over 2 hours).

Agreed Phil. He was very much in the background. On his rare public appearances, he was highly complimentary of Jim. Then he stabbed him in the back to get his mate in. A in the grass 🐍 Can we stop all this snake business, we aren't a load of teenage girls. Can we also acknowledge that as good a manager as he is Jim also has his flaws and we all know about them.
Wilson in his first interview last March made it clear the manager would have less responsibility from now on. Jim was offered and signed a new contract in August presumably with a new role and responsibilities. Jim is a club legend but also has a history of interpersonal conflicts within the game that have stopped him from managing at a higher level.
It's probably not all black and white. How many of those “interpersonal conflicts” would you say happened at County? And how many of those affected the outcome of a season? Genuine question.

Can we make this a pinned post now please? Why? Do you want the title to be YB policy or something?

There was Michael Rose and Gareth Owen for example back in the day, clearly with the owners in the 2nd spell (they were clowns of course) but he seemed to keep out of trouble while in part-time football.

Time to bring this one back up the board again.
He has failed.

Not at all. His graphs are neatly written.

I bet Wilson's pleased he got the interview out before today. He tried to put a positive spin on things before they got any worse.

Stott will pull out soon and we’ll be the new Bury. Oh my days. This season had so much promise.
Pinpoint a day when it all went wrong…
Sacking Jim Gannon.

D95, much as it pains me, I have to agree with you. From when JG got the boot until now, it is (once again after sacking Jim Gannon) a woeful tale of decline.

If Stott pulls out then it's back to gannon or Turnbull. I fear without clever management it would be the end of the club. How on earth could you get the big earners off the books without doing well?

Surely mark Stott has more about him than giving up after 2 defeats in 5 games.

Surely mark Stott has more about him than giving up after 2 defeats in 5 games. Definitely, look at how many attempts it took him to make the money he’s accrued now. The guy is a grafter who doesn’t appear to be scared of failure and learning from it to ultimately bring success.
