I completely understand calls for Wilson to go, but hear me out on this - the squad he has assembled should be capable of a lot more than this, and the responsibility for that is squarely on the shoulders of Rusk. I cannot believe that a more experienced manager with tactical versatility and a more keenly developed sense of how to manage each game as it plays out wouldn’t be able to get a tune out of them. Exactly this! He’s put in place the squad and infrastructure for us to succeed. He needs to now admit Rusk hasn’t delivered and that we need a new manager.

Agree. Pointless calling for Wilson to go, as he won't be doing. A new manager is required because, as you say, that squad is more than capable but the manager is incapable of bringing it out of them. Someone capable of divising and implementing tactics and a style that change a game for the better.

We won't stop going backwards while Wilson is still here in my opinion, but you're right, he's going nowhere and that's why it's so depressing.

Of course I don’t know for sure but I suspect Wilson is much more involved in team affairs, tactics, etc. It’s clear he believes in an analytical approach to the game and I can’t believe he doesn’t direct Rusk to play a certain way, otherwise what’s the point of the analysis? He seems to be the type who wants to be a football manager and has found a way to do it without actually being in the dugout. Rusk is just a head coach.

I’d agree with you if the rot hadn’t already set in under Gannon. We were only predictable and toothless in flashes back then, but Notts County had the possession obsession sussed when we played them at theirs however long ago that was. We didn’t play like that before the takeover, however the strategies put in place since have continued despite the change in manager. The Scientific Method dictates you change one variable and observe. We changed one variable, and the problem persisted. Got amplified even, but was still there. Hence, the manager does not appear to be the variable of concern.

To have done what he’s done, shows he cares more for his own ego than anything else so I doubt apologies are his thing.

No point getting a new manager whilst Wilson is here. He's responsible for the whole experiment, including how we play. He's not going to appoint a proper manager who knows how to succeed at this level, it'll just be more of the same. We need a team of physical aggressive quick players who play football in the opposition's half like Sutton did last season. Wilson wants us to play out from the back so we can attract Premier League kids here, but it won't work at this level.
