Speaking of which, he was on his feet and coaching a lot more yesterday than he has been doing. Mark McGhee’s Blue n White Army! No way, he's part of this shit show.

Exactly this! He’s put in place the squad and infrastructure for us to succeed. He needs to now admit Rusk hasn’t delivered and that we need a new manager. He needs to also admit that he stupidly got rid of a manager who would have had us playing properly and being successful. Jim went 9 months ago. Doesn’t do anyone any good to keep harking back to it. He’s moved on as have we. So I don’t think there’s any value at all in Wilson talking about that decision. It would just reopen old wounds. And I suspect no matter what was said, fans would criticise him for it. So it’s pointless. Much better just talk about what’s happened with Rusk and what he’s going to do to find the right person this time.

Ship them all out and put Dave Conlon in as caretaker and recruit someone who can actually manage a team.

Not sure I should go on Saturday. Think I’m going to descend into the kind of childish abuse that I normally can’t stand. But the thought of seeing him in the tech area on Saturday makes my skin crawl.

Having a DOF is fine so long as his role is clearly defined. Manager says I need a left sided centre back, DOF says 'here's three options - which do you want'. Or starts lining up junior squad members to bring through over the next x years. That's grand. Now I don't know is whether that's what is happening, but if it is, Rusk doesn't seem able to build a properly balanced team / squad from that. In his previous role that wasn't necessarily his priority - so the imbalance in the squad may stem from that. At the same time, he doesn't know how to get the best out of players like those we have now - either tactically, or performance wise. The players we have should be turning out better performances than they are - there's no hiding from that. The system doesn't work, and we seemingly don't have anything else. Having a style of play seemingly centred completely around Quigley with no back up for him just seems bonkers. If things aren't happening as above, then you'd have to hope we'd bring in an experienced manager who makes clear from day one where the lines are drawn. Wilson has acheived some good off the pitch with the set up... but he shouldn't be someone we're even bothered about as a fanbase in my view. He should sit in the background, and be a tool for the manager. With the manager we have seemingly being so lost, and having come in when he did/ in the circumstances he did, Wilson is front and centre. Wilson says that what you describe in the first paragraph is how it works and like you seeing how awful Rusk is at seemingly every part of management at this level I can well imagine him not realising what we needed in terms of attributes and position this summer especially as he admits he still doesn’t know what’s wrong. Ultimately though Rusk was 100 per cent Wilson’s hire and to be convinced that he was right man after speaking with him at length is bewildering given we’ve all seen probably about 100 interviews with him since he’s arrived and he’s never convinced me in even one of them that he’s got a clue.

Just get Jim back and let’s stop pissing about. Stott could make it happen if he wanted to. I’d love that but i just can’t see it happening under Stott and Wilson. There are other managers who will be able to bring us success. Just find the right one. Yeah, there are, absolutely. I always said Jim wouldn’t be with us forever for one reason or another, the key was finding someone who could take us up a step after him. Rusk evidently can’t do that. But if we were Wrexham, or Chesterfield, or Notts, and were looking to sack our manager, Jim would be someone we’d be keen on. Success of growing teams, cup runs, titles/promotions, bringing young players through, playing the right way, sensible with money, fair play etc. Then add in that we’re not those clubs, we’re County, and he’s got 1000 games and four promotions with us and it’s utterly ridiculous that he’s not in charge. Because some div thought he knew better and wanted to put his stamp on the place when it wasn’t necessary. A member of the new staff told me they were ‘as big a County fan as anyone’ recently, which is as insulting as it is incorrect. You’re not, because you’ve been here five mins. Don’t try and belittle the love, money and commitment we’ve all put in to County because you’ve got loads of your bosses money to spend. If you are as big a fan as me and everyone else on here, tell us about your away days. The times you’ve literally missed meals to afford to go on a Saturday. The anguish of consecutive relegations, and the joy of being 3-0 up against City within 30 mins. Tell me who Zeke Tomlinson, Liam Foster and Kevin Brock are. That, and the sacking of Gannon, just highlights that for all the good they’ve done, they’re still miles away from getting us and understanding what makes us tick. A shiny new Cheadle End is great and welcome but it doesn’t mean a thing without understanding the heart and soul of County.

Agree we had the right person, we don’t now. Gannon isn’t likely to return and to keep bringing it up, isn’t going to help. Stott and Wilson now need to find someone who can take us up. There are plenty of candidates who will be able to bring success to the club.
