Did anyone attend the crazy races in Stockport today, it looked like a really good event going off the MEN report and photos.

Had a good afternoon at Offerton. Shame for the club they couldn’t cash in by selling beer to the general public but half my family are members so I was fine.
I was genuinely shocked to see MSH playing in socks. Surely an injury risk right there.
Challinor clubbed a couple of boundaries before getting bowled. The rest of them looked like they’d not held a bat much.

Apart from the financial loss to Offerton, not selling beer to the crowd on a hot day like that is ridiculous. I know other clubs are able to sell to the public - maybe it needs to go elsewhere if they can't sort it out?

I’d have been selling one day memberships for 50p if I was the secretary.

I’d have been selling one day memberships for 50p if I was the secretary. We have a club license and the TEN didn't go through in time due to an error from somwone within the club. A club membership must have a 2 day process to stop that exact scenario of selling on the day We did all we could to get as many access to the full club as possible. Next year will be fine as we will either have a premises license at that point or a TEN that will allow us to sell to all. It wasn't ideal by any stretch but a good day was had none the less...

Fair play. I know it’s not easy running a sports club with volunteers. Everyone seemed to be having a great day regardless. It was great to see some old faces from my playing days many years ago. The club is FAR better run than it was when I played. We didn’t even have covers. I maintain it’s the most attractive ground to play at in all of Cheshire when the sun is out.

Agree Chadders. The most picturesque ground in Cheshire and an extremely well maintained ground despite the challenges of its isolated location. Covers, new sight screens, a portable net, completely gutted and renovated bar and changing rooms, plus a very well maintained square and outfield. All that takes a helluvan effort from volunteers in terms of time and of course money raising for all the maintenance equipment and other costs. To anyone who hasn’t been involved in running a cricket club, the costs are an eye raising amount.
I take my hat off to those involved in improving the club year on year.

Possibly less time now for them to play another sport in the summer and then its the possible injuries you can pick up which the club will frown on.
